Which is why she puts the best man on lockdown. Unfortunately, he also happens to be the one guy who can make her forget everything except the way his kisses make her feel.

All Christopher Henderson needs is a fake girlfriend to convince his bosses that his bad boy reputation is a thing of the pastso he can land his dream job. What better place to find said companion than at a wholesome vintage wedding. The only thing he didn't count on was seeing Emmy, the woman who dumped him. The one he hasn’t been able to get off his mind.

There's no denying the spark between them, but he’s a globetrotter and she’s a homebody, and falling in love is something neither of them has in their plans.

Wanting to keep Wishing Bridge Farm in her family; the farm that she inherited with her two sisters, Emmy Watson is planning her first wedding as a wedding planner to be hosted at the farm. But with a hysterical bride, the groom's brother being a handful and the best man being her house-guest; a guest she'd rather not have, Emmy doesn't know whether she can pull it off or not.

Christopher Henderson can't believe that the woman he hooked up with two years ago is the wedding planner for his best friend's wedding. Either it's his lucky day or his worst nightmare, depending on her reaction to his news that he needs a fake girlfriend to land his dream job. Yet, when Emmy starts interfering in his chance at finding a fake girlfriend amongst the women guests at the wedding, he begins to realize that Emmy herself may just be the perfect woman woman for the job. Can he convince her to give him another chance, or will their second chance at forever after slip away?

This is the first book I've read by Ms. Ashby, and I've got to say that I absolutely loved it. Not only because it's a second chance romance, but because Emmy and Chris are two fantastic characters that hooked me from the moment they came face-to-face again for the first time in two years. Will she be able to handle the fact that he's the best man and will be staying with her at the farm? Will Chris be able to forgive her for the past when he learns the truth of why she deserted their plans?

As for the dialogue, it was intense due to what happens to Emmy's sister, and of course, the main characters back stories, especially that of the hero. He's an adventurer, never sticking to the one location very long, for fear he'll end up as bitter and unhappy with his life as his father was with his.

A fun and flirty romance. A light-hearted novel laced with nostalgia. A quick read with loveable protagonists and an interesting collection of secondary characters.
4.0 out of 5 stars A small town, sweet romance 16 January 2017

Emmy needs for this weekend to go perfectly. It's her first wedding in her new business as a wedding planner and up to this point, things just haven't been going that great. So she finds herself at the airport to pick up the best man - who ends up drawing the lucky straw and will be staying with her at her farm, since the groom's brother caused a flood at the inn everyone was staying at, leaving no place for the man to stay.

The last person she wanted and thought she would see was Christopher... the man she had a weekend long fling with, the one time she has ever left town. Good thing he's not the best man... or is he?

Christopher wasn't too happy to see the girl who dumped him over a text message but there is still a drawl towards the beautiful girl who stole his heart that weekend 2 years ago. After confessing that he was planning to use the wedding as an opportunity to find a "fake girlfriend" for a future engagement, Emmy is determined to keep Christopher close by and not allow for anything else to go wrong with this wedding.

But fate has a totally different idea for these two... so let the fun begin. Christopher still sees the woman he fell for 2 years ago, but can Emmy let go and let fate step in so she can find the love that she's always been looking for?

I really loved Emmy and Christopher together. I love small town romances... especially when the "big city" partner comes in and isn't use the dynamics of the busy body townspeople. Christopher is charming, handsome and just the right amount of sarcastic fun for the closed off but lovable Emmy. This was a cute quick read and I can't wait for more books in this series.
4.0 out of 5 stars A sweet start 10 January 2017

3.5-4 stars.

This was a sweet read.

Here, we have Emmy and Christopher. They met years ago in NYC and spent a hot weekend together, only to part at the end of it. Now they meet again at a wedding Emmy is organizing, and things couldn’t be more awkward between these two… except now Christopher has to stay at Emmy’s house, lol.

There were a lot of unresolved issues between these two, mostly why Emmy didn’t want to stay with Christopher years ago. Also, they both live completely different lives with Emmy putting roots downat one place while managing her business; and Christopher always moving around the world. Things really couldn’t work between them.

There was obvious tension between them, sexual and otherwise, and it was fun to see them circle around each other, maintaining the idea they had of the other. Still, the more time they spend together, the more they start to see each other’s POV of life. There’s nothing wrong with settling down, just as there’s nothing wrong with not putting roots down.

I really wanted to know how things could work between them, not just in the way they see life, but also work-wise.

I loved the ending and also the little surprises Emmy’s sisters gave us. This should be a fun series from the looks of it, I really want to hear their stories.

A sweet and lovely story.

3.0 out of 5 stars Charming and Sweet 10 January 2017

This book had all the elements that I look for in a book. The writing was strong and there were no areas where I was pulled out of the story by the writing. The dialog believable and Emmy and Christopher spoke like real people. I liked the characters, and it was a second chance romance. yet, this one didn't totally work for me.

Emmy and Christopher met a couple of years ago, had a couple of day romance and then, for reasons you find out in the book, she did not accompany him on a trip that he had booked and their relationship fizzled.

I think this was my issue, that there was a combination of insta-love combined with a second chance romance that felt just a little off to me. In order for me to really believe the angst of the second chance meeting, I needed something a little deeper than a 2 day affair...or maybe see a little more of that relationship in flashbacks.

This said, looking past this, it was a sweet and charming romance. It is clearly a set up for the stories of the other sisters, which is fun. I also think the story here may have suffered a little with the attempt to also set up the other stories, which is a common thing in "first in a series" books.

That said, I am definitely interested in reading the next stories. There was enough here to make me want to see what happens next.

I do recommend this book.
