Product Description

As a second generation detective, Nathan Carter is a cop, through and through, one who definitely sees things in black and white. But his work ethic—and libido—are thrown off balance when he heads up the case against jewel thief, Regan Malloy. Because with one sizzling look, she’s got him hot and hard. And he’s been that way, ever since.

Growing up, Regan’s favorite hobby was learning to crack safes, and she was very, very good at it. Still, she’d always tried to keep to the straight and narrow, and only strayed when she believed a friend was in desperate straits. Now she’s out of prison and starting over. If only she could forget that she’d spent the last three years fantasizing about the stunningly gorgeous detective who locked her away.

It’s inevitable that they meet up again—in bars, hotels…and hotel beds. Despite their differences, they can’t keep their hands off each other. Still, it’s just desire. If they give it enough time, it’ll burn itself out. Because a good boy and a bad girl can’t possibly make it work. Can they?

This is a contemporary, hot romance with a solid heart. While the action is sizzling, it's how Regan and Nathan navigate their personal challenges and tackle the issues that should keep them apart that kept turning pages for me (or swiping the screen). As a recent fan of Ms Crofts, this is the first of her work I've read that is 'real world' based and thoroughly enjoyed the cast, and range, of characters and the hurdles placed before them.

Aside from the very steamy action, the story is an intelligent look into the life of a newly minted female parolee, and I thought it treated the impacts of that with sensitivity. I have to say I loved Regan's family, cringe moments and all. Nathan's character isn't the 'typical' alpha male that I presumed he would be, but has such a big heart he almost steals the spotlight from Regan. And, you can always tell a lot about a man from their dog.

If you're a fan of contemporary romance with a lot of soul, and a fair amount of steamy encounters, you won't be disappointed. Nina is a first rate weaver of romantic tales, regardless of the genre, as I was more than happy to discover.

5.0 out of 5 stars One steamy read 28 February 2017

regan malloy has done hard time, three years of it to be exact. and the man who ensured she was locked up, he hasn't stopped thinking of her in all that time. nathan carter knows he's losing his mind when he shows up outside the prison on the day she is released. and following her and her friends that first day out is a bit beyond the pale. and then meeting up with her at the bar is the height of insanity.

and he swears it will only happen one time, one night, just to get this insane attraction that has been driving him crazy for three years. that regan feels the same way is incomprehensible. but she does. she felt the pull back when he was working to get her behind bars, even though at the time she wasn't sure that he felt anything for her. and now that she's a free woman, intent on staying on the straight and narrow, feeling the way she does about nate is a complication she doesn't need.

her family are known con artists, thieves, tricksters, and not only is nate a cop, he comes from a long line of cops. their worlds couldn't be more different. but when one night segues into two, and then a third, and then instead of one night they decide to give themselves a month. a month of being together and not mixing in each other's worlds.

as if that wasn't an impossible task. because nate and regan are perfectly matched. and if it weren't for his profession and her family, maybe they could work things out. but falling for the bad girl is a stupid thing for a cop to do, especially one up for promotion. and even if she's only a minor league bad girl, more of a robin hood than a bonnie parker, she still has all that baggage. she still belongs to a family of criminals. but when they don't think about that, and are simply together, the way their relationship deepens and grows is really wonderful to read. they talk about their lives, their dreams, they open up to one another in a way that feels so real and so romantic.

but how do they get from being a couple in their bubble to one that can make it in the real world? what sacrifices are they prepared to make for one another. are either of them ready to trust that this uncontrollable passion that they feel is actually love? getting those answers is so worth it. spending time with nate and regan put a smile on my face. their story was emotionally satisfying, deeply romantic, and incredibly sexy. what more could a girl ask for?

**falling for the bad girl will publish on february 27, 2017. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/entangled publishing (brazen) in exchange for my honest review.

4.0 out of 5 stars Falling For the Bad Girl 16 March 2017

Loved this book!! A contemporary romance that shows some risks are worth taking.

As the blurb states, Detective Nate Carter put Regan Malloy away for a diamond theft. The merchandise has never been recovered. During the trial, Regan and Nate felt an attraction that went beyond ordinary. After Regan serves three years in prison, Nate and she hook up. After one night of unbridled sex, they know it can't be just the one time, so they embark on an adventure of no strings sex for one month. Both think that should be enough to drive the other from their system. But as the month progresses, uneasiness creeps in and neither wants to think of the end approaching!

Believing any type of relationship just would not work, neither know how to contain their feelings. Nate is a detective and Regan comes from a family of known thieves. That's a recipe for disaster. Even since Regan has gone clean and has opened her own business of cracking safes and software-but for the good guys, she still feels putting the cops anywhere close to her family spells trouble with a capital T! But she also knows that what is developing with Nate is quickly becoming something she doesn't want to give up. She just can't. But how can they make it work?? Nate feels the same way. He knows he's breaking all kinds of rules and his work partner has cautioned him. He wants him to be smart. But he can't see letting Regan go any more than she can him.

This story was a good mix of steam and sweet. I liked both Regan and Nate. Their situation is a complex one not unlike real life. I think that's why it was easy to read and to recognize their struggles. Nina Croft does a great job of making us feel we are actually in the story with clear but not overly wordy details. Everybody is believable and their actions are acceptable. I enjoyed the differences in the families they came from and the dynamics of how they sculpted the couple into who they are now.

Definitely a page turner, grab this one and prepare to settle in with Falling For the Bad Girl. The journey is fast and oh so intriguing.

5.0 out of 5 stars ...a sexy story with a powerful message. 24 February 2017
By Isha Coleman - Published on
We've been conditioned to see the world in a black or white format, but in truth we are surrounded by many shades of gray. Regan learned that lesson from the school of hard knocks. She lead with her heart, instead of her mind and ended up getting burned. Now seeking to redeem herself, she plans to start anew. With all the drama from her past she knows that will be hard to do. When her past ends of rearing it's head in the form of a sexy fantasy, will she risk more than her freedom this time and give her heart completely? A by the book cop, Nate is a man at a crossroads. The only family he has left is quickly slipping away. The job he's devoted most of his life to is getting harder everyday. When his fantasy women unwittingly walks back into his life, he just may be willing to risk it all. Could a wayward ex-con be the woman meant to be his Ms. Right? Falling for the Bad Girl is sensuous, moving and full of wise words and bad choices. Ms. Croft manages to create a sexy story with a powerful message. People are more than labels. We all make mistakes, it's the lesson we learn that make us the people we are.
