Such a cute book! I’ll admit the cover is what made me buy this book. Yeah, yeah I judge books by their covers, but rarely does that let me down. This book was adorable, funny, romantic and a fast read. It’s the first book I’ve read by Melissa and I can’t wait to go back and read more of her books.
I was addicted from chapter 1 and didn’t put it down until my kindle made me at the last page. Summer Peters is the main character and the book starts with her being dumped in the middle of her summer paradise. She’s of course confused, distraught and pissed.
Then she meets her new client, Alexander… swoon ( said all the ladies). Rich, gorgeous and very into Summer she finds herself thinking of him much more than she should. I admit I loved the chemistry between Alex and Summer. I rooted for them even through his nosy assistant’s interference. It was pretty clear she didn’t see Alex as just her boss.
Throw in her ex reappearing for a second chance, her psychic landlord/neighbor and a Halloween party and you have all kind of drama and ‘what if’ moments. I really enjoyed all the trials Summer went through and I found myself holding my breath hoping to see her make the right decision (clearly my decision lol).
What I Loved:
-The Halloween aspect. Believe it or not there aren’t a lot of ‘Halloweeny’ themed chick lit books. It’s one of my favorite times of year which is why I needed to buy this book.
-The subtle hints Summer’s psychic neighbor was giving her. Even I was thrown off a bit!
-The relationship between Alex and Summer… they had some serious chemistry.
-That this is book 1 in a series! I can’t wait for the next one!
What I didn’t Love:
What I thought of the Cover:
-AH! Probably my favorite cover of the season and so fitting of the story. Very chick lit.
This book is short, more of a novella but worth the read. I read it in just an hour or two (but I’m a speed reader) and I can’t wait for number 2. I enjoyed Melissa’s writing style and liked how the story flowed. It’s an easy, fun read with a cup of coffee and your favorite fall treat!
I definitely recommend buying and checking out all of Melissa’s books!
Spend a year with Summer beginning with the first installment of the Seasons of Summer Novella series!
After a devastating breakup in the middle of her summer vacation, Summer Peters knows she needs something to distract her. What better than the arrival of fall, Halloween, and a new client? Though she assumes that Alexander Williams will be a hands-off client, she is surprised to find him very down-to-earth. She's immediately drawn to him, much to the dismay of his overprotective assistant. When it becomes obvious that he feels the same, she begins to wonder if their meeting was meant to be.
Just when she thinks she could be ready to move on with her life, her ex-boyfriend Jake returns for a second chance. She's in for even more of a surprise when she learns her nosy, meddling neighbor is actually a psychic pushing to reveal details of her future.
Summer doesn't know which way to turn as she feels like she's being pulled in different directions. Between Alexander, his assistant, and her ex-boyfriend, she fears she may not be ready to move on after all. She considers turning to her neighbor for advice but the fear of knowing exactly what the future holds is more frightening than not knowing.
