Faker Audible Audiobook – Unabridged
Debut author Sarah Smith nails this fun and sexy multicultural romance where two office foes fight to hammer out their differences and build a love that will last....
Emmie Echavarre is a professional faker. She has to be to survive as one of the few female employees at Nuts & Bolts, a power tool company staffed predominantly by gruff, burly men. From nine to five, Monday through Friday, she's tough as nails - the complete opposite of her easy-going real self.
One thing she doesn't have to fake? Her disdain for coworker Tate Rasmussen. Tate has been hostile to her since the day they met. Emmie's friendly greetings and repeated attempts to get to know him failed to garner anything more than scowls and terse one-word answers. Too bad she can't stop staring at his Thor-like biceps....
When Emmie and Tate are forced to work together on a charity construction project, things get...heated. Emmie's beginning to see that beneath Tate's chiseled exterior lies a soft heart, but it will take more than a few kind words to erase the past and convince her that what they have is real.

Meet Emmie; a strong, sassy, take no rubbish character who spends 8 hours a day in her job surrounded by burly, gruff men. In order to survive in the testosterone fuelled atmosphere of work, she has created a whole kick ass persona so that she's not seen as incapable just because she's female. To make matters that bit more difficult is the fact that she has to work in close proximity to Tate; grumpy, abrupt and with an apparent dislike for Emmie.
These pair, for me, were the ultimate in enemies to lovers; constantly trading quippy one liners and trying to outdo each other, I felt that this heightened the chemistry between them to the point where I was literally on the edge of my seat waiting for them to realise their feelings for each other.
Both Emmie and Tate weren't the typical perfect heroine/hero; they both had their insecurities that held them back from showing their true selves to each other. That is until an accident puts Emmie in the hospital. This was the turning point in the story where we got to witness these two gorgeous characters finally realising the depth of their feelings for each other.
A perfect blend of slow burn chemistry, gorgeous characters and steam, Faker kept me hooked until the very last page. If this sounds like your kind of thing, then you definitely will not be disappointed by this book.
However, I feel like there was a lot that could have been addressed in this book that was sidelined. The development of Emmie in a male-dominated work environment could have been zoomed into and I just did not like that there was not enough of that in the book. Also, I don’t think there was any significant plot development as I found the storyline quite predictable (it was still fun to read though). I also really disliked the ending.
