3.0 out of 5 stars Fake Boobs is about Fake Boobs, but it’s also more than that 19 March 2015
By Michelle@Book Briefs - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Fake Boobs is a standalone new adult contemporary. And before we even get started, yes it is about fake boobs, but it is really about the larger picture of self esteem issues. I went back and forth with this book a little bit. There were a lot of things that I liked about the book, Fake Boobs, but there were a few things that rubbed me the wrong way. And not just about the main character, Tori. After I was done reading I sat back and tried to sort out my thoughts on the book and I kept coming back to the same thing, that the positive outweighed my annoyances.

So let’s talk about the positive. I really liked Grant and Tori together. I liked the big picture of their relationship. I was very happy with the way everything left off, and I was happy that Grant wouldn’t put up with Tori’s nonsense, and at the same time he was more there for her than anyone else in her life was. I thought that Tori’s journey was relate able and no matter how misguided she may have been, it was something that I think a lot of young women and teens would benefit from reading about. Sure, she had a very distorted view of herself and she made lots and lots of bad decisions, and she bugged me multiple times but it was all a part of her self discovery and self growth. She bugged me in the moment, but when I stepped back I found that I actually liked Tori quite a lot. And I loved that the story switched from her point of view to Grant’s about half way through the book. I wasn’t expecting that at all, but the events kind of rewound and were retold through his eyes. I thought it was a great writing technique for this story.

And now for my annoyances. I just said that Tori did a lot of stupid things and she was really misguided, and yes that bugged me but that annoyance was actually very fleeting and minimal. A big annoyance came from Grant. And I loved Grant, but he did what I hate a character (or anyone) doing. He decided what he thought was best for someone else and he just unilaterally made that decision. I can’t tell you how much this grates on my nerves. Just sit down and talk to the other person instead of doing what you think they need. It wasn’t Grant’s decision to make, and like always it was wrong and royally messed things up. But like I said, it is a pet peeve of mine so that is probably why I rubbed me the wrong way.

Fake Boobs is the story of Tori and Grant just as much as it is the story of Tori’s personal growth and becoming ok with who she was. It worked well as a standalone and the story felt well developed and complete. So yes, Fake Boobs is about Fake Boobs, but it’s also more than that. I think it is worth a read.

*Disclaimer- I got a copy of this book for free in exchange for my honest review. I was not compensated for my thoughts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing Fake about my Love for this Book. 17 February 2015
By Robin Powers - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I always like to read books by Ryan Ringbloom. They are funny and a little angsty. This book has both Grant and Tori's POV. Grant is Tori's brother's best friend. Tori is the little sister with poor self esteem because she's thin, flat chested, brown hair and brown eyes. She feels like a plain jane compared to all of her friends. She has graduated high school and never been kissed. Her brother's friends have never looked twice at her since she's always been the tag along sister that is 3 years younger. Tori is desperate to have some attention for a guy and starts making poor choices. Grant steps in, at first, to try to warn Tori to be careful before she heads off to college. As they get to know each other, feelings develop and misunderstandings ensue. We see how far Tori will go to get noticed and gain some confidence with males. Loved this story and enjoyed seeing what was going on in Grant's head.

4.0 out of 5 stars Like none at all 3 March 2015
By Danielle ShortandSassy - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
4.5 stars

I thought that Fake Boobs was going to be something else all together. When I read this book, I was truly touched by the message behind it. The whole time I was reading it, I was thinking that every young girl should either read this book or have a mom who does and show them how choices effect you as a whole. Insecurities effect us all. No matter your age!!

Tori is young and has no self confidence. Like none at all. She is also sheltered. Having a big brother doesn't help matters either. Her dating life has been almost nonexistent. She just wants to be wanted and have someone look at her with star is their eyes. You can't really blame her. That is what most of us want.

What Tori has, is smarts and personality. But, she doesn't think these things matter. Because most guys don't look for those things in a women off the bat. That is except Grant. Grant is a stand up good guy. He has always had a thing for Tori. The only problem is that he is Tori's brother's best friend, which makes her off limits to Tori.

Just when things seem to fall in place and the stars align for Grant and Tori, Grant has a change of heart and moves away. He is self exile his self from Tori and all his friends to keep from hurting anyone. Grant thinks Tori needs to experience college life and grow into herself. He doesn't want to hold her back.

Grant and Tori take separate roads in life. Grant goes on to became a pilot, while Tori meets a friend who derails Tori from who she really is. Tori's new friend shows her the world of make up, tanning, plastic surgery and all around fake beauty. Soon Tori becomes unrecognizable to her old friends and family. She dumbs herself down and doesn't even teach, like she always wanted too. Instead she dates losers and works a bar where her only real job is to shake her booty!!

On a trip home Grant runs into Tori and can't believe what path she has taken. Maybe he was wrong to leave. Maybe he should have stayed and fought for her. Now, he can't let her slip through his fingers again. Older and wiser, he wants to show her, old Tori is just as beautiful if not more so than new fake Tori.

I loved this story. It makes you question beauty and what we think we should look like. I found it to be real and thought provoking. As a mom to young girls, it really made me think how important self esteem is!!

4.0 out of 5 stars This book shows you just need to be yourself and good things will happen!! 27 March 2015
By Amy Crull - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I must say I can relate to Tori so much in this story. Self confidence is something I struggle with myself and I felt for Tori. She is always hanging with her brother's friends and never had anyone show her how to be a girly girl. Her parents are always busy doing other stuff and ignoring her. She never had guys attention and was called ugly a lot. She is determined to change her image once she goes to school. With the help of her roommate, she gets new clothes, makeup and you guessed it new boobs. She is loving the attention but soon finds she isn't happy. Grant, has been friends with Tori's brother for years but never really noticed her until now. They strike up a friendship after he helps her out a couple times. But soon they develop feelings, then he gets spooked and runs away. I really like how you get both povs and how it takes tori changing a few things for the family to notice and change things. By the end of this book Tori finds out that she didn't need to change, the right guy was there for her the whole time and loved her unconditionally.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved 17 April 2015

I received this nook for free in exchange for an honest review.

I can't put my finger on it. But I couldn't put this book down. From the moment I started reading it, it was all I could do to get back to reading it if I had to put it down. I loved the characters and the story. I felt for the characters and was able to lose myself in the book enough to get lost in it. I am pretty sure I frightened my kids and my dog every time I busted out loud from laughing so hard. Great read!
