Absolutely Perfect! Fae at their best
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 January 2020Verified Purchase
I loved every moment of it and I really cannot wait until I can get my hands on the next book in the series!
Right from the start I fell in love with Coren, she is exactly the kind of snarky, strong, female protagonist I adore. I also love that her best friend Helka was so awesome and the two of them supported each other. We need more examples of female friendships like this in fiction! Coren is such an interesting character, from her love of baking to her motorbike. I loved reading her reactions to the the castle and of course those cursed Fae.
I knew I was going to love Fae Curse from the moment I read the synopsis. It has everything I love in a book, including both Fae and Vampires... does it get any better than that? It is dark, fast paced and oh my goodness is Lucus is a very very interesting love interest... who wouldn't want a brooding alpha Fae looking in their direction? I love that Coren is just as strong willed as Lucus and that she knows her own mind and is determined to do things her way.
The world building was amazing, and it was presented so seamlessly throughout the story, the sharing of memories was a really nice touch, not only did we get to learn more about Lucus but also about the Fae world too. I really like the Fae lore introduced in this book and I cannot wait to read further in the series, I need to know more!
The pacing of Fae Curse was spot on, like I said, I didn't want to put it down but at no point did it feel rushed. We has enough time to get to know Coren, and her friends and life - the bakery and her love of baking along with her friendship with Helka all really helped explore what kind of person Coren was.
I would definitely recommend Fae Curse to anyone who is a fan of Fae, snarky heroines and urban or high fantasy in general. It's a fantastic read and I will definitely be rereading it in the future and I cannot wait for the next book!

I really enjoyed this book! It has set out the world we are entering nicely and building up the characters well. I couldn't put it down and read it really quickly. I'm loving all the characters already and can't wait to see where book 2 takes us.

Fae curse becomes fae destiny
Reviewed in the United States on 6 January 2020Verified Purchase
Coren is the mighty heroine of this novel. She runs a bakery with her best friend, drives a kickass motorcycle, and sees things that no one else can. She gets caught up in a storm that streaked purple lightning across the sky. Suddenly there's a castle that only she can see. Her curious nature forces her to check out this castle and see what the deal is. She encounters 3 fae and a vampire who are cursed to live in this castle, selling off parts of their soul to stay alive. Could Coren be the one to break the curse? Fantastic story. Well written characters that are easy to love. I can't wait for book 2!

Wonderfully Unique

Oh, I love a good book cover! This cover was pretty different from the norm by having the main male lead as the focus – the colours, the energy of the image – it was so enticing and inviting! And it was an invitation well worth taking up!
The plot was unique and engaging. I enjoyed the fact that once I understood the premise and the history and I had a clue of where things might be headed, that there was still a feeling of… more-ness. You know the more-ness, the one you feel in your bones while you read, where, even though you understand the direction, you still feel that itch at the back of your neck that says something is coming that you’re not quite prepared for. I so enjoy a good premise; but I especially enjoy a plot that, in the right hands, has enough structure, creativity and flow to read like magic.
The characters are wonderfully individual and fleshed out brilliantly with their quirks and mannerisms, so much so that I loved that I could read a statement and know who said it even before they were identified.
The FMC was perfection on so many levels! A bike-riding, contact fighting, chocolate croissant baking beauty.
Then the boys…I’m keeping my judgement on the boys for now. Everything about them is different to what Coren is used to. Heck, on personalities alone, they are utterly different from anything I’ve known, but oh I wish...
The dynamics between the main and secondary characters are entertaining even while being utterly confusing.
Coren has been so brave in helping the guys and I can’t wait to see what happens next in a very intriguing story. I consider myself lucky to have the opportunity to read this.

Note: I received this book from the author and I voluntarily give this review, it is my honest opinion.
Fae Curse is the first book in the Yew Queen trilogy by Eve A. Hunt and if you like sexy fae, alpha but-holes, snarky vampires, loads of magic, and baked goods then you have to read this.
This was such a super fun and quick read that had an interesting storyline. Coren is snarky, funny, strong, and independent. The fact that she owns her own bakery and loves the products she makes just delighted me to no end, I love it when food is incorporated into stories, being a food lover myself (especially sweets) it just adds a little something special to the story. I like her and her smart mouth she kinda feels like a kindred spirit with her attitude.
Coren finds herself surrounded by the supernatural three fae brothers and a crazy vampire. I love the detailed description of the guys and their personalities come through right away. They are more modernized than I thought they would be and more aggressive. Truth be told I don't really care for the guys with Lucas being semi tolerable. It's true that the guys have a difficult history and my heart kinda goes out to them but I also understand how things came to be but from their actions, today, is causing me to have very conflicting feelings about them, except for Baccio, I just don't like the guy. This isn't a reverse harem so I have no idea if Baccio is going to change his attitude but it would be nice to not want to punch the guy in the face.
The story was interesting with a nice complex background ground story that will probably help move the story along in the future. There was something a little off with the story and it could have to do with the complex relationship between Coren and Lucas but hopefully, those things will be ironed out by the next book.
Fae Curse was a good introduction to the world and to Coren with loads of magic and difficult characters. I have some questions about Coren's heritage, about her relationship with Lucas and what's gonna happen next.
