How would you feel if you had perfectly good eyesight and could see everyone and everything around you, but you couldn't see your own reflection? Think about it. You would never know what you looked like.
Twelve-year-old Lily Johnson knows what she looks like and she doesn't like it one bit! In fact, she would be happy if she could do away with mirrors altogether. When she sees her reflection, she wishes she were prettier, thinner, taller and definitely...more popular! Wishing for things she's not instead of appreciating all that she is, has made Lily very anxious and unhappy. There are days when she feels like her world might fall apart and lately, she wonders if the world might not be better off without her.
Lily Johnson needs a miracle. And when she is at the lowest point of her young life...that's just what she gets.
About the Author
A native of New Jersey, Linda Lee Bowen was raised in the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church and gave her life to Christ at age seven. She loved Sunday school and her teacher; but, mostly...she loved Jesus. She got caught up in the world at an early age and traveled throughout the country as a vocalist. She settled down in her hometown in her late twenties, got married, and began a career that lasted nearly twenty in concept development. In those years, she had two sons who gave her life meaning and immeasurable joy. She left the church for a long time, but she never lost her faith. She found Jesus was waiting for her when she returned and at age sixty, she was baptized in water and in the Holy Spirit. Five years later, she wrote A Face Without a Reflection, which she hopes will be a blessing to anyone who struggles with why they were born, and thinks they aren't lovable enough for God. Nothing could be farther from the truth. He knows our hearts because He created them. And He sees the beauty that lies within each and every one of us.
