I had to take a few breaks while reading this book as the geopolitical content was overwhelming at times, but when I found myself thinking about the characters and the seemingly impossible situation in Israel and the West Bank in knew it was time to return to the book.
I became annoyed and frustrated at one point, I felt the author had duped me into reading a political essay rather than an interesting fictional work. As the book progresses I began to understand the need for the detail, it certainly added context to the story and characters.
I would recommend this book, stay with it if like me you found parts of it hard going, the end was worth the journey and it really was a journey.
