I used this book for my PCAT actually. It has a lot of great passages that are similar to those on the actual exam. Although I was never really good in Critical Reading, it helped me to see some patterns and also served as a great practice! Would definitely recommend.

This is good PRACTICE, but a horrible indicator of your score. Many of the answer keys are incorrect, or inconsistent (will indicate A is answer, but then explain why B is the only correct one), which is very frustrating.

This is good additional practice, but should not be your only source of preparation.

Ahh the verbal section of the mcat.... the part that makes me cringe. This book however prepared me for the mcat in that it shows you what to look for in the passages and how to answer them through the detailed explanations to the logic behind the correct answer choices. I think this is crucial for mcat verbal reasoning as this stuff cant be explained or taught through facts like the other sections but rather requires practice and more practice (this book is probably the thickest exam krackers study aide I have).

My verbal skills are next to lacking, and this book helped me score a 9 (I also used Kaplan's comprehensive guide), while I was only making 4-6s in practice before reading this. The fact that this book gives you so many passages to work on (with answers in the back) makes it effective. I completed the whole book in a week, about 2 weeks before my exam, and it really puts your mind in the correct testing mode.
