Private investigator Lucas Holt is on a mission…

Lucas Holt specializes in kidnap recovery. Ex-Delta Force and a former NYPD detective, he has spent the last fifteen years burying himself in case files to cope with the unsolved abduction of his daughter, Marnie.

Janet Maxwell just can’t let go…

After the death of Janet’s husband and son in a tragic car accident, she hopes Holt’s expertise can locate the daughter she gave up for adoption seventeen years ago. Janet knows her actions will have explosive repercussions for the girl’s father— presidential candidate, Todd Grayson. With no family, hope of finding her only daughter is all she has left. Or is there a more sinister motive?

There’s no greater incentive for a father than protecting his daughter…

On a mission to bury the constant reminder of his failure to recover Marnie, Holt agrees to Janet’s proposal. But at what cost? When his inquiries lead to news of the death of another woman, Holt can’t shake the feeling something is off about the whole case. And when new evidence surfaces about Marnie’s disappearance, finding her and finding Janet’s daughter become the same treacherous mission.

Crooked candidates, hired mercenaries, and his own life on the line—will Holt find it inside him to risk everything in the line of duty?

There’s no telling how far you’re willing to go when you have…

Everything to lose.

5.0 out of 5 stars a web of suspense 17 January 2016

With a perfect blend of modern and nostalgic suspense, "Everything to Lose" will keep you on your toes. The story is reminiscent of a good film noir classic mixed with the elements of the modern forensics shows. The main character, Lucas Holt, is approached by Janet Maxwell (the beautiful damsel in distress) to find her daughter, whom she gave up for adoption years ago. Lucas, perhaps against his better judgment, willingly accepts the mission. The danger is that he allows his own personal tragedy to drive him into this tangled web of a situation. But there's no turning back...and along the way he finds out that each thread of that web leads to an even darker place than the last. And everyone's motives are questionable, including his own. The ending will leave you wanting more, knowing that Lucas must continue his personal quest, along with unraveling the web of mysteries from which he is entwined.

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS BOOK WILL HAVE YOU CHASING FOR CLUES! 8 January 2016

Everything To Lose is a riveting suspense thriller that blends fast paced action with a compelling plotline. The basics are simple—Lucas Holt an Ex-Delta Force and NYPD detective is now a private investigator who specializes in kidnap recovery. He is hired by Janet Maxwell, a woman who has suffered the tragic loss of her husband and son in an auto accident. Now, she hopes Holt’s expertise will at least be able to locate the daughter she was forced to give up for adoption as an infant seventeen years earlier.
Easy! Right? Not quite. It turns out that the girl’s birth father is a presidential candidate and finding her will have severe repercussions to his campaign and initiate further investigation into his background.
What follows is a thought-provoking, intelligently written thriller as we discover the personal motivation that drives Holt to succeed in his quest.
If you love kidnappings and searches embossed by unexpected twists and turns then this is the book for you.
This story had me captivated from page one and I look forward to the next two novels in the series by this talented husband and wife writing team.

5.0 out of 5 stars An exciting page turner. 14 January 2016

The collaborative writing of JP Ratto’s first novel magnificently draws you into their characters. The protagonist, Private Investigator Lucas Holt is hired to find the seventeen year old biological daughter of Janet Maxwell who was forced to give her up for adoption at birth. He takes the job because he thinks it has a connection to his own daughter’s abduction who has been missing for fifteen years. This excellent thriller is action-packed. It takes the reader on a journey filled with suspense, plot twists and murder. Once you begin to read this book, you cannot put it down. The wonderful descriptions place you right at the scene. A slight hint of a romance between Lucas and the female sheriff, Maddie Grange, leaves you wanting to read more in book two of the trilogy. For their first attempt, I applaud these talented authors. They did an excellent job. This book should be on your must read list. I highly recommend this novel that I think deserves a “10” star review. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and look forward to their second and third installments.

I enjoy reading new writers, especially when the writing, plot and dialogue flow seamlessly. JP Ratto’s debut thriller meets those elements and will thrill its readers. It is a fast-paced, page turner with real characters and lush, visual description that enhances every scene. I look forward to the next JP Ratto thriller.

5.0 out of 5 stars Riveting Suspense and a Terrific Twist make Everything to Lose a Winning Read 20 February 2016
By Debbie De Louise - Published on Amazon.com
Everything to Lose The first in a planned trilogy written by husband and wife authors, Judy and Pete Ratto, EVERYTHING TO LOSE, is a suspenseful mystery featuring Private Investigator, Lucas Holt, a former NYPD detective and Ex-Delta Force now a specialist in kidnap recovery. Against his better judgement, Holt accepts a case that he is emotionally-connected with that goes back 15 years and involves a senator running for President. Teaming up with a small town female sheriff, Holt faces danger and confronts demons from his past. The hint of romance between Holt and Sheriff Maddie is well written as is the mystery's surprising twist. I thoroughly enjoyed this book that I was given in exchange for an honest review and look forward to reading Holt's next adventure that is previewed at the back. Highly recommended.
