We are dog lovers in our house and they are more than just pets. Very cool to see personalities of the dogs on each page. Ryan Carter (founder of camping with dogs) said “they leave permanent marks on our souls”. SO RIGHT! Get this book asap!

Awesome Coffee Table Book
Reviewed in the United States on 6 December 2023
If you read the Wikipedia page on "coffee table books" you'll see that it fits "Every Dog Deserves an Adventure" to a tee. It is an oversized, hard-cover book whose pages consist of mainly photographs with relatively small blocks of text.
Essentially, it consists of two dozen short first-person essays (the author alludes to them being interviews) from people who take their dogs hiking and/or camping. Usually, these cover how the person ended up with the dog, how the dog was trained to take lengthy hikes, and most importantly, absolutely gorgeous photos of the dog in an outdoor setting. Except for the photos, the essays become a little tiresome after the first dozen, though for a coffee table book, there is really no expectation anyone will actually read it all the way through. There is a section in the back that covers some basic common sense ideas regarding the preparation and safety of your dog if you take them on a camping or hiking adventure and a short list of National Parks. This is in no way a "How To Do It" book or a comprehensive list of places to go or things to see beyond what you can dig out of the essays. It does a pretty good job of guilting you if the most your dog gets is a walk around the block every weekend or you're still struggling with potty-training them.
This would be a great addition to a doctor's waiting room or an accessory in someone's living room to attest to their coolness (I mean dogs and camping/hiking - what could be cooler?). This isn't the great American novel ... it's more like a hard-cover National Geographic without the slick pages.
I gave it five stars because it was obviously designed to be a coffee table book, and it does a great job of being exactly that.

Great stories about people going outdoors with dogs
Reviewed in the United States on 11 November 2023
Most of the book is heartwarming short profiles of dog adventure families. There are backstories that can easily bring tears and stories where medical conditions make the future very uncertain. Some families go for multiple night backcountry camping trips, some go on epic road trips, other families mostly limit their adventures to day trips. Most profiles talk directly about various strategies they have to make sure their adventuring is safe; but there is also a concise summary of tips in a small section at the back of the book. If you have a dog and are looking for inspiration and tips to help you get out on an adventure, this book is for you. If you already are proficient at adventuring with your dog, you may want this book for your coffee table to display that important part of your life prominently in your home.
I don't have a dog and don't really want a pet. I was raised in a large family with a large dog who was part of the family for many outdoor adventures. My mom loves animals and books. Her dog is always ready for an adventure. I'm debating if I want to give this book to her. I'm not sure if she would feel guilty about what she can't do for her dog and I don't think the tips and resources in the book will help her (mostly common sense that she already knows).

Cute Book for Dog Lovers Who Enjoy the Outdoors
Reviewed in the United States on 13 November 2023
This is an all around enjoyable book. It tells the stories of people who like to bring along their pup when camping and hiking. There are stories to go along with each dog and their owner. The book itself is very well made with high quality, glossy paper and vibrant photos.
If you're an outdoor enthusiast and love dogs, you can't go wrong with this book. My 8 year old enjoys reading this book with me, so it's fun for little ones, too.
