After downloading and linking the scale to his EufyLife App, he added his age and height then set the scale to kilograms. Now he has access to valuable data to augment his daily visits to the gym.
He on Samsung and his wife on iPhone, each immediately sync via Bluetooth when they step onto the scale while the app is open, keeping their data separate and private. Multiple users can connect to one device, which makes this a terrific gift for even the largest family.

If you do sign up, do you really want to put your real name so they might be able to correlate this with your real world identity? All this information is a gold mine for American insurance companies and their white label subsidiaries that operate in the UK.
After I had signed up, I disabled my data connection and you were able to weigh yourself without having a tcp/ip connection. But in the app it says you are “Disconnected” at the top of the screen permanently. This is very misleading, because you would think it means its not connected via Bluetooth, but it's actually complaining about not having a data connection. All data is synced to their website, there is no option to allow you to state you want it kept on the device. My advice would be to not sign in with your facebook and/or gmail details, because they then would be able to associate you with your real world identity and with all the data you have provided whilst using the app.
I'm a software engineer myself, and they could have developed the application very differently. Fancy forcing users to login and create a profile before you can change the scale to Kilograms, it baffles me. But, they do offer you very nice statistics when weighting yourself, and it offers a nice breakdown of your fat, bone dentistry, water etc. But it's not for me.
For the time being, I feel this is a good device but I am unsure how it calculates these results and therefore I am a bit sceptical. Refer images for the kind of report it offers.
I will give an updated review once I find out the science behind the calculations. If you have any questions, do post it in the comments section, and I will get back to you.
I hope you find this useful to make your decision. Have a good day!
Why in the heck do they need to access all my privacy, in order for me to weigh myself? I fear that Eufy is sucking as much blood as they can from users, to sell that data to anyone they want ...including health insurance companies who can use the data against you (weight/ health data). And why does Eufy need access to ALL my Facebook information, all my emails and Google account and searches. This seems like a major overreach of data and privacy???!!!
EUFY ...please explain, in detail, why you need this access and what you do with this access and user data? Please reply with specific of why you need this access ...and what you do with users data.
I'll be eagerly awaiting your reply. (My Goal = All I want to do is weigh myself and keep that information to myself.)
Please explain ...I'm all ears.
Now I’ve had or used various scales in the past, from digital back to the more old-fashioned mechanical (yep the spinning wheel ones) but this is my first “smart” scale, which besides the usual weight given, also gives a more in-depth breakdown of your body composition (BC) thanks to 2 pairs of built-in sensors which cover:
-BMI(Body Mass Index)
-Lean Body Mass
-Body Fat Mass
So for those of you who need their body fat percentage and their muscle mass with multiple other features are now at the touch of your finger.
Setup and Use
Once out of the box and the included 4 AAA batteries are in place, the scale is good to go for measuring your weight. Depending on your location (or just unit preference) you can set the weight measurement to be shown in kilograms(kg), pounds(lbs) or stones(st.) via a push button located at the rear of the scale(plus customisation in the app for recorded data). The more than adequate bright LED display will, however, only display a conventional weight measurement. If you are wanting to make full use of the scale's features, some additional setup is required.
Firstly you will need to download the 'EufyLife' app from your relevant Appstore (Apple iOS 8+ and Android 4.3+ supported), complete a quick registration via the app and then enter some basic personal stat's which will be used in conjunction with the scale to determine how your BC results add up. Once you've set up the app and turned on your device's Bluetooth connection, the scale will be detected and pair the scale from within the app automatically(don’t try via the Bluetooth menu). The scale and app support up to 16 different users(large families sorted) which can either be on the same device or separate.
Note: For body composition (BC) measurements to be taken you must be barefoot, socks are fine for just weight but skin contact is required for 'smart features' ie. body fat percentage.
Once your good to go, simply step on the scale and view your weight live in the app which is followed by your BC shortly after (about 5-10 seconds). The results are easy to understand for any age or tech level thanks to an intuitive colour system of blue(low), green(normal), yellow(high) based from your statistics entered(red also present on overall weight to indicate if it is excessive). Values and/or percentages (depending on the measurement) of your BC are also provided for those who want more than just a quick reference result. Expanding each measurement in the app gives a short description to help you better understand what the measurement actually relates to. Data that is collected can be easily shared with other supported health apps such as Apple Health, to keep your health data in a single location but my preference so far has been for Eufy's own offering for trend tracking.
-Out of the box ready
-Quick Bluetooth connection and user-friendly app
-Accurate (tested against two other digital scales)
-The app prompts if a vast difference in current and last weight - measurement is detected
-Sleek, modern finish that will fit any room
-Clear LCD display
-Accurate weight measurement (compared to two other non-smart -digital scales)
-The scale does not work well on short pile carpets or bathroom mats, which other digital scales have no issues with.
-Weight measurements can be impaired by several pounds.
For my first smart scale I'm very impressed, not only at being able to visually track how my progress in the gym is translating on the scales but at the build quality of the scale and how intuitive and easy to use the app is. I will certainly be keeping my eyes open for future Eufy products if/when they make it to the UK.
Very impressed with these so far, they look fantastic and are very stable in terms of the reading they give.
The blue/black colour scheme looks very classy and having the LED's hidden behind the glass makes them look very minimalist when not switched on.
The app is great, very straight forward to get set up and running. You do need to set up an account, and no doubt they will be backing my data up into the cloud somewhere, however I can't say that I'm too fussed by it. I'm not in bad shape and now with GDPR in effect, I can't imagine that they'll be off using my data for any nefarious purposes.
Have linked my Eufy account to Google Fit so it's great that all my data can be integrated in one place (this was done so simply by literally clicking on the 'Link to Google Fit' option in the app.
All in all I'm a very happy customer so far and can definitely recommend.
Initial setup is straightforward - pop the supplied batteries in, set measuring units and for basic weight measurement you're good to go. Then if you want more, install EufyLife app. I didn't like the fact that you can't use the app without submitting your e-mail address thus subscribing to some kind of service. Not cool.
Add your scale *in the app*, NOT in your bluetooth menu. Once you connect it, the app will show you not only weight but also all other detailed body analysis info.
The scale connected easily to an old Samsung Galaxy S6+ with stock Android 7.0 and worked flawlessly every time. However, with the brand new Galaxy S9+, Android 8.0 it wasn't that easy. At first it wouldn't connect at all from the app, although it could be seen from the bluetooth menu. Then after rebooting the phone it did eventually connect, but only once. Any subsequent attempt failed. Reboot, it connects, but only once. So this was the only pattern that worked for S9+ with no exception. No other bluetooth accessories behaves in this way so the fault is not on phone's side.
Here I have to give credit to Eufy customer support. I give them 6 stars out of 5. They sent me another scale to see if I had a faulty unit. Didn't help. I blame the Android app and I hope it gets fixed soon. Otherwise I like the scale and would give it full five star rating but software part disappointed.
Have to mention, it worked flawlessly on my friend's iPhone 8.
The scales look very modern with a large screen which is very easy to read.
The app was easy to setup. Register with email and password, and follow the onscreen instructions to connect the scales to your phone.
The information available on the app about your weight is very detailed, see images for more info.
A great set of “ smart “ scales that won’t break the bank. Would recommend.
