It's extremely easy to use and very accurate. To calibrate it, you just press one foot on it to trigger it to power it up, then remove your foot and wait a couple of seconds until it reads 0.0. Then you step on it and in 3-4 seconds, the weight readout stabilizes. I tried it four times in two different parts of my house, and it gave the exact same measurement to the nearest tenth of a pound. Once you calibrated it the first time, then all you have to do is step on it to get an accurate readout. You don't have to calibrate it every time. My last digital body weight scale had to be programmed with your height and age, and when you wanted to weigh yourself, you had to press a button with your toe, then carefully get on gently, or it would give you a high reading if you just stepped on abruptly. This one is much thinner, and much easier to use. It runs on two AAA batteries, but they are already in there when it arrives, you just have to pull out a plastic strip to activate them. It comes with a auto rewinding measuring tape that is designed to be attached to one corner, so you can measure your kids' height when you weigh them, but I think this is an unnecessary feature, and I'll use the measuring tape for other things. At first, I couldn't figure out what the measuring tape was--it was an oddly shaped plastic thing with no label as to its function, so I looked it up in the little owners manual. That's the ONLY thing I had to look in the owners manual for. The rest was self-explanatory.
I'm VERY happy with this bathroom scale.
