*The handles! Super comfortable, especially the way I like to tensely grip the handles...so it's great that these are foam covered. When I first saw them and received them, I was already imagining how the foam would deteriorate or gain the shape of my hands overtime but so far, it seems to hold up very, very well and does not really absorb the grossness of my sweat into the material. Well-done!
*The rope part is very smooth when jumping. There's no "catches," "hitches," or "hesitations" as you spin the rotations. Love it!
*I LOVE having the adjuster. I am only 5'2" and consistently have trouble with jump ropes. As a kid, we all used kid-sized ropes and never had a problem but once I became an adult, it was SO much harder to find a rope I did not have to twirl once or twice around my wrist just to make it manageable!!!
*The adjuster is hard to use. I'm pretty wimpy when it comes to using finger strength to adjust anything so I had to wait until I got to see my boyfriend and have him help me adjust it. Oh well! I don't mind, but it would've been good to be able to do it myself without feeling like my fingertips were going to rip off.
*I have not tried checking out the videos online yet as I'm pretty boring when it comes to jump rope workouts, but I have a friend who does look at them and he thinks they're pretty creative, especially for a newbie to jump-roping or the average fitness participant.
*I also cannot 100% say it IS tangle-free or not but I can say that I have NOT YET gotten any tangles. So that's great too, since I'm impatient as hell and HATE dealing with knots and whatnot.
Overall, I think I wouldn't get this for just anyone, but I'm possibly thinking of getting one for my cross-fit-obsessed friend. She could probably definitely get good mileage out of this item!
One thing I think needs improvement is the rope adjustment. There aren't any instructions on how to adjust to length of the jump rope, so it took me a little time to figure out how to adjust it. It also only adjusts the length of the handle unless you cut it to a shorter length. I think having some instructions included would at least help people figure out how to adjust it.
Other than the rope adjustment, I'm very happy with the jump rope and would buy it again!
I docked a star for a couple of reasons -- One, I'm of average height at about 5'10" and this rope is just a bit too short. I often trip over the rope and have to adjust my arms (bu pulling my elbows inward) to keep from doing this. I've been boxing and jumping rope for years so it's not my coordination, it's the length of the rope. A good way to test if a rope is of appropriate length is to stand on the center of the rope -- the handles should come up to about shoulder length; these do not for me. Unfortunately, there is absolutely no way to lengthen it. The clamps are right at the ends of the rope. You can shorten it, so if you're 5'10" or less, this probably wont be much of a problem.
The second reason I docked one star is that this rope is not at all what I would call "weighted". Understand, though, that this is my own subjective opinion; but I expect a rope described as weighted to be a good 5+ lbs like my previous ones. It is definitely heavier than a speed rope, but if you're looking for a weighted rope to provide an extra workout, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. If you're a beginner or looking for a mild to average jump-rope workout (and are 5'10" or shorter), you definitely wont be disappointed.
