Dusty and Stone were characters that I had a bit of trouble connecting to at the beginning but once I did I loved both of them. There is angst and drama and some damn hot chemistry betweenness these two.
Dusty is a fighter and prideful, she doesn’t like asking for help but sometimes you just have to accept that you need it, even if it comes from someone you used to be best friends with then enemies.
Stone has focused and worked hard to get his NFL dream but when an his best friend (who he abandoned) need him to step in and help he doesn’t hesitate.
When circumstances throws these two together tensions will run high, tempers will clash and when the truth is finally out it will take lots of drama, hurt, understanding for Dusty and Stone to finally come together and really see each other.

This is a slow burning enemies to lovers football romance. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m going to go ahead and say that I love the main character names! I mean come on - Dusty and Stone. Sooo cool!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The minute I saw that @tijan had released a new book. I just one-clicked it, as anyone would 🙌🏻⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Enemies was a really enjoyable read and I honestly couldn’t put it down. I did find that when I got around 45 % that it got a little bit predictable for me. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve read my fair share of enemies to lovers romances and I could just guess what was gonna happen but I still recommend that you give it a read.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Stone Reeves was my neighbor, and I've hated him since sixth grade.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Gorgeous and charismatic, he became the town's football god, while I became the town's invisible girl.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
He went to a Division 1 school for football, while my father was fired by his father.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
His team won the National Championship, while my mother died the same day.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
He was a first round pick for the NFL ...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
... while I made the worst decision of my life.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now I'm in Texas trying to pick up the pieces of my life.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But, Stone is here.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Stone is everywhere.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It doesn't matter that disaster has struck my life again.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It doesn't matter that he's the one trying to console me.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It doesn't matter that he's the nation's newest football obsession.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because for me, he always has been and always will be my enemy
To lies being told to cover up issues and innocent people losing their livelihoods to death — this title captures it all .

When I began reading I was struck by the words and the emotion of Dusty’s journey in this novel.
I’ve through my lifetime felt many of the thoughts and feelings that Dusty expressed and often experienced including those that Stone discussed.

Enemies is an emotional rollercoaster about family, friendship, love, surviving trauma and heartache & how resilience the body and mind can be. Tijan puts your heart through the ringer that's for sure. My heart broke for Dusty, like I just wanted to scoop her up and keep her safe but my god she was so strong.
I was in awe of her. Her resilience and motivation to keep her head up and keep going no matter what mixed in with that unnerving vulnerability made her one of my all time favorite heroines ever written. I related alot with her. She is one of the best girls in NA that I have read about in a long time. She had been through hell and back and was still experiencing it and I really appreciated how Tijan showed us her refusing to acknowledge what has happened and wanting to pretend because let's be honest we all do that. Its in our human nature to pretend and act like everything is OK because we don't want to experience pain.
Now Stone...can we just *sigh*...love LOVE HIM. What a guy. I feel like because we didn't get to hear much from his POV until end he was a bit of mystery building up but did I screech with joy when we got to see what was in his head? You bet! Im so eternally grateful we got to see some chapters in his POV because they were everything & really provided an additional depth to the story.
5 star read!
This didn't 'read' like a Tijan book to me. It took me a while to like the characters & to get into the story. However, once I did I really grew to like Dusty's quirks & understood them, I think I 'got' Stone from the start but the more layers were peeled back about their past, the more he made sense!!😍
It's a very multi-layered & complex emotional read. I liked the epilogues 😄💘 Well worth reading in my opinion!!🌟
