**SIGH**...... Where do I begin.....I've never read a book and felt broken..... But this did it for me... it broke me... I had like a panic attack, couldnt breathe....I cried.... It was so painful..... I finished at 2am and bought the second one on Kindle right then, cause as much as I got the first one for free... and I hadnt planned on reading others... There was NO way in hell this was happening.... I could NOT leave the ending like this...

It was amazing... I felt like I was riding a rollercoast live... not reading about someone's rollercoaster... I was ON the damn ride. On another note....I'm starting to heal with book 2... ;)

A word of caution though... Do NOT buy this if you dont plan on reading number 2. It wont be physically possible....

I really liked this book. It was easy to get into and sucks you in.
Best friends fall in love but end up going to different colleges but the love never goes away.
My heart broke at the end though.
It is a must read.

New adult romance is the type book I've come to love lately (although it's very hit and miss) but this one lacks the depth to make it as memorable as authors like Jay Crownover, Kylie Scott and Kate McCarthy.
I do love that this book contains multiple perspectives but the romance is drawn out too long and without the additional novella to continue on this couples story (along with the glimpses you get in the other books in the series) I probably wouldn't have continued with the series.
On a positive note though, the series gets better as it goes along and is really getting worthwhile in the latest addition.

Cute book, but I just didn't connect with the characters at all.... Those damn cute nicknames grated me big time... And the " now that was a creeper moment but oh well I'll stay with him anyway" just made me want to bang my head against something...
The main character Laney is just so immature , she loves Disney , never kissed a guy until she is 18 , never goes out and loves just hanging with her Daddy fishing for a good time .. It just didn't do it for me....

Emerge by S.E. Hall, tells the story of Laney Jo Walker. After skimming through her childhood, it hits a few key points from the last of her high school years and follows her into college, where all of her best laid plans all start to come apart.

This coming of age story, told first person, mostly from Laney's POV (though there are a few chapters from other voices) chronicles Laney's journey as, during those intense first months of college, and living away from home for the first time, she struggles to find, and eventually re-invent herself.

As the title suggests, she evolves from the girl she was into the woman she will become.

Along for the ride, or at least part of it, are a great cast of characters including her single dad (and yes, there's a story there) her best friends from high school, Kaitlyn and Evan (who for a moment becomes more, and never stops striving to regain that spot). Then there's all the new people she meets at college. Some who show promise, others she'd wish to see less of.

There's a love triangle that develops, the struggle of maintaining a long distance relationship when the new guy in town is doing everything he can to make his play, and when everything comes to a head, Laney will find out which of her friends, old and new are true and have her back, and which will take any opportunity to stab her in it.

I enjoyed this story immensely. The angst and turmoil of Laney's life as she struggles with all things new and not knowing anyone at all on campus seemed, to me, quite real to life, honest and compelling. (Though I have to admit, the character of Dane seemed just that little bit larger than life, but hey, its a story, so roll with it ;) )
