Reader Alert:

EMBRACE THE MAGIC is the second paranormal romance novel, a vampire romance, of the Blood Rose Series, following EMBRACE THE DARK, which was the first paranormal romance installment. EMBRACE THE MAGIC is a passionate, sexy, paranormal romance, a vampire romance, set in the world of the Nine Realms. Caris Roane is the author of over sixty published works, twelve of which are paranormal romance novels featuring sexy, warrior vampires in need of worthy women.

When a blood rose enters Mastyr Ethan’s world, will he succumb to his deepest needs or lose her forever to an enemy intent on possessing her at all costs?

He desperately needs his blood rose…

Ethan, mastyr vampire of the Bergisson Realm, never thought to find his blood rose, the one woman who could ease the blood-starvation he’s endured for decades. But Samantha carries a surprising level of power as her newly discovered fae heritage emerges and she connects with his personal realm frequency, a vibration that ignites his passion. His commitment to ruling Bergisson, however, has priority, even over his driving need to be with Samantha. As desire rises, and Ethan finds himself drawn into the web of his driving, relentless need for her, will he be able to embrace his blood rose or will his guilt over past events prevent him from living life to the fullest?

How can she give up the life she planned…?

Samantha can’t believe she’s a blood rose, a woman who can meet the needs of a starved mastyr vampire. Her plans never included the world of the Nine Realms in which mastyr vampires rule millions of realm-folk, but learning that she’s half-fae has changed everything. As Ethan’s blood-needs become a life-or-death struggle, and cast her into a war against the dreaded Invictus, how can she choose to embrace her new fae powers and change her life so completely? Will she take on the role forever as Ethan’s blood rose? Or will her desire to follow her life’s ambitions force her to choose against love, passion, and unbelievable fae power?

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Continuation, Though Heroine Needs to Be More Decisive 26 November 2013

I read the first book in this series in a collection I bought and was intrigued by the world Roane had built in Embrace the Dark. So when I saw she had a second book out, I bought it hoping to enjoy it as much or more than the first.

I actually liked the characters in the first book, Embrace the Dark, more. Ethan, the hero in this book, I did enjoy. He was unabashedly stubborn, set in his ways, and definitely had the domineering personality of a man who is used to getting his way. He never appologized for who or what he was an stuck with his convictions until he was shown he was in the wrong in some aspects. Then he adpated and changed as he should have done. Samantha, annoyed me on and off throughout the book. She seemed incapable of making a decision. Every time she did something beneficial/helpful in the Bergisson Realm, she felt like she had a purpose and there was a place for her in the Realm, but the very next paragraph she was, but how can I live here when I have a life and everything I ever wanted back in Louisianna? It got old after the 4th time this happened. One can only read I have a purpose here, I could have a place and do good here, but how could I ever fit in here when this isn't my life or the life I wanted before all of this happened. Samantha came across as indecisive and inconsistant, which was a shame as Abigail in the first book was pretty consistent in her thoughts and actions.

Ethan did develop throughout the book and overcome his struggles and hangups, but all Samantha seemed to do was finally make a decision. It would have been nice had the author actually had Samantha give considerable thought to her choices and actually weigh the pros and cons rather than, I can have a productive place here, but this isn't my home thoughts.

Other than that, the story moved along well and it was nice to be reaquainted with characters from the previous book and see them develop more. The overall story was interesting and I liked how the conflict continued from the previous book and developed more. I am interested to see where this series goes and will probably purchase the next book, hoping the heroine is a little stronger and more decisive.
4.0 out of 5 stars 2nd book in the series. 20 February 2015

Parallel universe with sex. This is the 2nd in the series. Another novella length, but it has 10 chapters.

I was set to give this one 3 stars. I was just not getting into it, unlike the first book. I thought Ethan was cool in the first story, but in this one he changed into an uptight version of Gerrod. I've seen more than one author do this. Then, it gets better as the story progresses.
Samantha is a good heroine & once she embraces her heritage, she becomes a worthy partner to Ethan. She's still conflicted through pretty much of the book. Her & Ethan have only known each other less than 48 hours & they have sex & she gives him her fabulous blood. Everything comes together & is satisfying.
We're introduced to the next Mastyr in the next book, Quinlan.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good...but book 1 was better. 18 February 2015

I liked the storyline of the blood rose. It's different than other vampire books that I have read. To know there is someone meant specifically for a vampire I thought was great. The love scenes were steamy, but I never felt that the character's took the time to know one another. I also kept thinking when will she read the journals. I knew there has to be a clue there. Maybe it was supposed to draw out the mystery, but for me it made the story lacking. Overall it was okay and I can't say I won't read the next book in the series; however, I hopeful that the next one will show more depth to the characters. I mean how can you say I love you to someone you really don't know. Crossing my fingers that the next one will be as good as the first and better!
3.0 out of 5 stars Myth and legends meet sci-fi and horror with a dash of romance part2 22 August 2016

Unlike the first book... The pace was a bit slow at times. It really shouldn't take me a week to read an 280 page book. Something's were over detailed whereas other point had very little. I enjoyed the banter between Ethan and Sam..... To fall in love in a matter of days is a bit much but to the writings on the wall is even worse. Much to their own credit, they both had some serious abandonment issues.... The HEA..... Well, it left me a bit unsatisfied.
5.0 out of 5 stars Delicious Read 19 September 2013

Another GREAT book from Caris Roane. The second in the blood rose series is packed full of steamy romance, magic, blood, hot vamps and strong beautiful ladies. She has a way of writing about scents and flavors that make you want to go to a store and start sniffing the entire spice isle. Ethan and Samantha, our cross species couple, lead us on a journey through passion, war, passion, regrets and insecurities, and, yes!, another healthy dose of passion. A definite must read in the Paranormal Romance world! I would suggest reading the first in the series Embrace the Dark (The Blood Rose) but its not necessary to follow the story!

I also suggest her wonderful Ascension (The Guardians of Ascension)series. More delicious men and beautiful women, vampires, wings, passion and scents that will drive you crazy!!
