Product Description

I am a monster. A sexual deviant. A gorger for pain. I am Worthless William Welch.

But I am hers…

Ten years since Welch has seen Gwendolyn, he finds himself in Portland, the same city they were supposed to live together; just two bloody lovers against the ghastly ways of the world. But that isn’t how their story would pan out, and Welch troubles himself everyday with memoirs of the only one that will have his heart.

His sweet, sweet girl. Fiery Gwendolyn is gone and he is alone with nothing to occupy him except memories.

As he tries to grasp onto the recollections while simultaneously forgetting the pain he was bathed in for so long, he searches for a woman that will give him the agony he so desperately craves. You know what they say… be careful what you wish for.

As Welch pushes an unlikely woman to the brink, he is surprised at her eagerness as she gives him what he longs for. Punishment, pain, and pleasure. He becomes enveloped by the demons of his past, the torment of his current, and the ghost in his mind that he refuses to part from.

Reverted back to the dysfunctional little boy who obeys, Welch finds himself in a disastrous cycle while the edge of goodness is within reach. Will it be too late for him to find love before he breaks himself down to a point of no return?

Once again I take my hat off to Mary E Palmerin. The conclusion to Gwendolyn and Welsh's story was nothing but beautifully heartbreaking. I loved it. As promised by Mary they got their HEA although unconventional. It is a must read.

5.0 out of 5 stars The wicked world continued to show its ugliness. The world was a cruel place with hidden monsters. 3 December 2016
By annmric - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
This story began where Gwendolyn ended. Gwen and Welch formed a loving connection through pain. Having experienced the same pain and torture at the hands of monsters they understood each other. They were sent to separate state mental institutions to reform back into society. The story opened with Gwen running into the arms of Noah. The Emancipation of Love was written from William's POV.

William was a lost soul with a confused mind. William's conditioned sexual appetite craved punishment. William craved pain to heal his broken soul. William remained lost in the past with reoccurring thoughts of the love he lost. William was in a perpetual cycle of dysfunctional damage.
William and Gwen searched for freedom away from the monstrous world. Both spent time rehabilitating in a state mental institution. Once free both reentered the wicked world alone.

This was a second chance love story between two monstrous characters that were reformed into society while struggling to rid the conditioned thoughts.

Strength did not come easy for Worthless William who was conditioned to submit and obey. William struggled to keep his dark cravings at bay. William was weak without Gwen. Gwen was the balance his mind needed to stave off the guilt of his past.

The story contained explicit graphic sexual scenes and contained violence.

Mary has an interesting craft and talent for the darkness in her characters. Mary's characters have broken souls that continue to survive despite the pain and torture. Hope and love were the surviving methods used for these two characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heartbreakingly Beautiful. 28 June 2015
By Melissa S - Published on Amazon.com

How do you move on from the only person who's brought light to your darkness? How you do you see past the hurt and violence that you've suffered through what seems like your entire life? You don't.

Monsters are real, they live and breathe like the rest of us, hidden in society behind closed doors. They eat at our minds, reminding of us of the worthlessness we play on repeat in our heads.

10 years. It has been ten years since that awful night when they were separated. Gwen was his light. His sense of calm in a fiery storm that played out in his mind on a daily basis. The only person who could make him FEEL. He lived his day to day just existing. Punishing himself with hurt, he didn't deserve love. He couldn't save her. He'd known she survived, but in what magnitude he'd never know.

He'd yet to find someone who could make him feel. He'd often thought about taking his own life. What was it anyway? Worthless William had nothing, just darkness.

Gwen lost years of her life from the Monsters that had consumed her mind. She was nothing, the mantra was something she'd lived with daily. She wanted to move on, she wanted the life they'd dreamt of all of those years ago, but without her Monster would it ever be or mean anything?

The self-hatred they both suffered through will burrow itself into your soul. It will consume you on a level that most will never experience. Will their messed up love for either ever be enough for them to have the life they'd always dreamed about?

Can you ever truly run away from the Monsters that consume you or you just holding out hope that you'll make it through and truly overcome them?

5.0 out of 5 stars A DARK FAIRY TALE AT IT'S FINEST 27 June 2015

After reading Gwen's story I knew Welch's was going to be heartbreaking but beautiful. Mary E Palmerin has a way to make those who would normally be viewed as "troubled" or "monsters",to be able reach out and touch our hearts in a way I can not explain. My love for these characters is deep and this book made me feel such a range of emotions that I was left drowning in both tears of happiness and sadness.

Broken from his past Welch is haunted by his memories. Each day is a struggle to find where he fits in anymore. He is damaged, effed up, and worthless. No one understood him like Gwen did and no one ever will.

Not for the faint of heart.A must read for anyone who loves a good mind f*ck! This is a dark fairy tale that will leave your heart pounding, gasping for air as you try to find the words to describe what you just read!

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully Dark 7 July 2015
By Natalie (LBTS) - Published on Amazon.com

I have never wanted to direct the lives of two book characters more than I did for Gwen and Welch. They are like a real life case study on what abuse can do to people and I wanted to be able to snap my fingers and make everything better. I wanted to take away their pain and make everything pretty and perfect. But that isn’t how life works and that isn’t how this story was meant to go. It was poetically beautiful, very emotional and deeply dark.

Taking place ten years after the events in Gwendolyn vs the Band of Barren Hearts (you need to read this series in order) William Welch is in Portland and continues to be haunted by his past and the memories of Gwen, the only woman he has ever loved. Trying hard to live his life as others expect but unable to quell his darker desires he is unable to recreate the same feelings he had with Gwen.

What follows is a story that will have you caught up in a spiral of love, fear, pain and an ending that will take your breath away.

Mary Palmerin didn’t hold back with this series and made no apologies for the raw and gritty depictions of these characters brokenness. While I would have liked the story to be drawn out just a bit more to answer some of my lingering questions (I found certain key parts were rushed) I was still completely invested in this book.

The Emancipation of Love was beautiful and sad and in the end, after spending time thinking about Gwen and Welch, I don’t think I would have ended their story another other way.

" Remember, we can’t live in yesterday. We have to live in the now. We have to or this is all we will be for the rest of our lives. Only we can decide our fate. Let them and our past define us, or effing live ! "
This has been my mantra of life. Life's short, you only live once, you are responsible for your choices......
The story picks up where Gwendolyn (book 1) ends. Gwen is searching for william, William is searching for Gwen and I am searching for a moment of peace for these tired , exhausted souls.
They've be been though it all- abuse, rape, torture, blood, hatred, beatings , and what not.
If this kind of love doesn't deserve an HEA, then nobody does . And Mary gives them their happy ending.....albeit with a rat on their tail . I was smashed and stunned, like I'd jumped off a bridge, into cold waters of despair.
But I understand !
I understand that they are messed up people.
I understand that world is a cruel place.
I understand they stole a tiny piece of rainbow from the storm.
So, I say well done Mary. This is a befitting , brilliant sequel to gwendolyn. Thank you for writing this book like YOU and not soap -operising it !
Thank you for not losing sight of the plot and keeping it Real .
thank you for not losing your quirky, mad, creative streak and succumbing to popularist quicksand
We love you - just as you are 💖
