Product Description

A brilliant author, an amazing storyteller and an accomplished and gifted artist.
- Leisha

Ella is the last of a dying breed of humans that live hidden deep in the forests of Washington State. All of her life, she has heard horror stories about the Others, the beasts that live beyond the safety of the mountains. In ancient times, humans and the Others lived together in peace, but a great battle divided them and the shape-shifting species won the war.

Ty Bearclaw, a grizzly-shifter, is the curator at the Washington State Animal Sanctuary, Research, and Observation Center (WSASROC). A call from a rancher about an unusual animal causing havoc along the borders of the National Forest brings him to the Olympic Mountain National Park. Ty is furious when he discovers that the rancher has placed a trap to capture the creature on government-protected property. His shock soon turns to horror and confusion when he locates the wounded ‘animal.’
Ty finds more than he expects when a human, thought to be extinct, turns up in the trap. What is even more confusing is his bear’s reaction to the female. When word escapes about his discovery, Ty must fight to protect the unusual woman who is more than an oddity – she is his mate!

Can Ty keep Ella alive and safe from a shifter obsessed with adding her to his private collection? Not only that, can he protect her when his own government threatens to take her away from him?

I loved the premise of this book. It was a big twist on beauty and the beast. This series is one I am going to be looking out for and enjoy. I've read S E Smith before and have enjoyed her stories and this is no different.
Ty was really cute. I liked how Ella was strong, but vulnerable when she left the world she knew.
This book has world building and suspense. It also has a 'who dunit' mystery and intrigue. There are a lot of shady players introduced and I am sure we will get to know their place in the next books in the series.
Fantastic start to another world!

I love S.E Smith. I own every book she has ever written and which is available on Amazon and I read and re-read them often. She makes me laugh she makes me cry, she completely involves me into her world and I can never put one of her books down until it's finished. She is a talented artist, a creative genius and a fabulous author. Love her creations.

This book has an interesting twist and thoroughly enjoyable storyline. Try and Ella's love story is one of overcoming prejudices learned from an older generation and misconceptions that are finally put to rest with an intriguing side story which I am sure will be revealed as the series continues, can't wait for the next one

I think this will turn into another wonderful series. But I hope S E Smith writes more dragonlings please. Also if the stories were a little longer but I suppose the first is for setting up the following books ...thank you I enjoy all your stories but my favourite is Riley's story.

I liked the switch of human and shifter roles but the pacing was painfully slow and tedious.
I also had an impression (from the blurb) that it would be a darker, more intense kind of read - it was anything but.
I don't mind fluffy fun stories, I just don't like to be misled.
This fell short for me, despite the promising premise.
