This was recommended by my FB book club and since joining have explored lots of new genres I wouldn’t have read this before but I am so very glad I did I loved the story and as for Eleanor OMG I totally fell in love with her character and quirkiness I was sad to finish it and would definitely recommend this book to everyone I know
The combination of humour and mystery in this book makes it an interesting and enjoyable read. We follow the story as the maincharacter completely changes her appearance, her understanding of relationships and the world around her and her values.
I found this novel compelling and beautifully written and recommend it very highly. It is a long time since I have read a book that I ‘couldn’t put down’ but it was definitely the case with this one. The maincharacter was damaged, vulnerable but totally believable. I enjoyed sharing her journey towards self-awareness.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and felt I could get to know the maincharacters as real people. As the story unfolds you are given glimpses of why the characters behave as they do. I liked the fact that the book ended suddenly - it seemed to make it more real.
Wonderful wonderful writing style. Sympathetic characters. Unusual story. The gentle unfolding of the friendship between the two maincharacters is beautiful. I am so sorry I have finished the book as I could have kept reading.
An unusual story but totally intriguing - the maincharacter lures you in with her old fashioned traits, her somewhat asinine and frank wit. Charming and sad at the same time - highly enjoyable book. Highly recommended.
Quirky but a but distressing. Not really light reading. I would have preferred to have known this. There are some amusing parts but I think the maincharacter has some incongruent tendencies, she appears to have traits of Aspergers but then some things she says do not reflect that. I work in this area so I was becoming a bit annoyed with it! Otherwise an engaging story and a good twist.
