This book is more relationship focused than the other books the family business is still there but takes a back seat this time to Camilla and Tommaso.
I love Camilla she’s strong, feisty a free spirit who bucks against expectations and lives her life exactly how she wants. What really made me happy was her family loved her for who she is and never tried to change her.
Tommaso is a bad boy that’s a given but he’s not reckless, he’s a quiet contemplative thinking man. He feels stifled in his mafia role not really sure where he fits in the organisation.
He decides to take a break and this is when he needs Camilla and to be honest I’m not sure who’s the hunter and who’s the prey. The chemistry between them is tangible and what was meant to be a one time thing quickly grows into so much more.
I really enjoyed being along for the ride with this passionate twosome, it’s a turbulent ride especially given Camilla’s reluctance to form a romantic relationship.
Another fab book from this author.

Effortless was my first Bethany-Kris book. I haven’t read other books that feature the Rossi and Donati families but the author has done a great job of providing sufficient context that this book stands alone well.
This book held my interest on two fronts; the romance between Tom and Camilla as well as Tom’s relationship with his father.
I appreciated that neither Tom nor Camilla’s played games with each other. Their romantic struggles are hampered not only by physical distance – he in Chicago, she in NYC - but different their attitudes towards romantic relationships in general. Tom may not have been looking for love but he is willing to explore the potential. Camilla is more the quite-it-and-hit-it type. She is skittish about relationships and is most certainly not looking for love. The sexual attraction between them is immediate and strong but their journey towards a lifelong connection other is slow as they both grow and Camilla especially realises that relationships are not the anathema she imagined. Instead it’s rewarding, fulfilling and effortless.
As Tom patiently waits for Camilla, he is struggling to find a place to fit within the constraints of the Chicago Outfit. His father has clear ideas about what he expects from his son but Tom finds the politics and protocols of working within this regimented hierarchy stifling. At times Tom can be quite impetuous and we often feel his frustrations but I liked the way his father and other mentors offered guidance but let him work things out for himself for the most part.
I really enjoyed this book and will be adding more Bethany-Kris books to my want-to-read pile.

As the title suggests this story was an effortless love between two young adults. Tommaso and Camila were instant. Their story was enjoyable and an easy read.
Looking forward to the upcoming Legacy novels.

A worthy addition to the legacy series
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 January 2018Verified Purchase
Effortless is a little lighter than the previous legacy novel, but just as compelling.
Tom, short for Tomasso, is a Capo working his way up to follow into his father's footstep as the boss of the Rossi family. He is not happy in his current role for his heart lies elsewhere. He has to grin and bear it as his father won't budge. He is restless and feels like something is missing in his life. Quite what? He isn't sure!
Camilla aka Cam is the younger sister of darling Cross Donati. She is a free spirit who likes to have fun. She likes her independence and intends to keep it that way. No complicated relationships. Love them and leave them is her motto. Until now!
In desperate need of a break, Tom takes time out from Chicago to visit Cross in New York. As soon as he sets eyes on Cam, he is smitten and blatantly oggles her. She unashamedly returns the favour. She is always up for a good time. He is taken by her dirty mind and filthy mouth. It's game on. Somehow, Cam finds herself wanting more. So not her style! She will soon put an end to that. Tom, on the other hand is prepared to bide his time and plays along.
They are like two magnets being pulled towards each other whilst one of them is determined to resist. Resisting is not so easy though! The electricity when they are together always sparks and sizzles. Something that they crave when they are apart. After all, Chicago isn't just around the corner from New York. Can she ignore what's staring her in the face and stick to her ways? Is he prepared to sit back and wait, just in case she changes her mind?
The cat and mouse game between them is sometimes comical and sometimes infuriating. Their relationship is full of lust and love. Despite all the indecisiveness, they fit together perfectly. There isn't a lot of angst, but what's there keeps the adrenaline flowing. There were a few glimpses of Cam and Tom in Cross' and Catherine's story and it's so nice to see how they started. This romance is very well woven and well balanced. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Effortless love

This book was a bit different from the others I have read by Bethany Kris. Granted the mafia aspect is there but this book focuses more on romance. The effortless romance between Camilla Donati and Tommaso Rossi. Being that this is the first legacy book I wish I would have read it before the others. But that didn't take away from it being that this a complete standalone. Old characters make appearances - which is always fabulous.
Cam and Tom are hot, hot, hot!!! The chemistry between these two is sizzling!!! It's obvious they are made for each other even though Cam struggles with her feelings for Tom as she is the one with relationship/commitment issues. Thankfully she finally gets her head on straight and faces her issues.
Tommaso is fabulous!!! We don't really see too much into his mafia life. Yes it's there but nothing too deep. However we find very quickly what he will do and does for Camilla. He struggles with his feelings for her as he can't understand them but he embraces them. Cam however does not. Granted she has feelings for Tom but instead of embracing them or even admitting them she runs away. At times I though she was just downright mean to Tom. She wouldn't talk about her feelings - just choosing to ignore them - and pushed Tom away. Thankfully she woman ups and does something.
The one thing I didn't like about this book is that I could absolutely not connect with Cam. I'm not sure why but I just couldn't relate or come to love her. However despite that I enjoyed this book. It was effortless to read . I recommend this book but I suggest reading it before the other legacy novels as we are introduced to Cross and his current day life at that time. I couldn't help but think about where he is now and what happened in his and Catherine's trilogy. But that's just me.
Speaking of Cross I love his and Camilla's relationship. Reminds me of my relationship with my sisters. I wish there had been more mafia - if you will - in this book as I love the suspense and mystery but it's still a good but all the same. Cam and Tom are perfect for each other. After all their love was effortless despite their struggles. Loving each other came easy to them even though Camilla does not want to believe she finally found her person.
" Love shouldn't be a scary thing. Loving shouldn't be hard to do, even if it's hard to find. Love should be effortless. "
And in the end effortless is the kind of love Tommaso and Camilla have.

Another for my favorites collection!

I am so enjoying each crime family couples stories so much and many are in my favorites collection to be read over and over again. I thought my most favorite was the story of Cross and Catherine but I must say that I absolutely loved and enjoyed Cam and Tommaso's story so much. Tommoso was so patient, intelligent, loving, caring, protective, incredibly hot, and despite his profession his father taught him to be a "good man". Cam, beautiful, a free spirit, sexy, unsure of her path, nervous and afraid of commitment, even though she had a great model that great love does exist in her parents Cam is still afraid to dare hope it was out there for her also. I always enjoy any book Bethany-Kris gives us as she has never let me down for true reading enjoyment. Thank you for this one!

Another great mafia book.

Cam and Tomaso are meant to be together. I loved how their relationship evolved. Both sets of parents get that they love each other before either of them would admit it. Tommaso didn't expect to fa!l fore her but when a soldier he doesn't know starts running his mouth about her its more than he could take. He lets her come to her own conclusion that she loves him. Great book!

The Curtain's Pulled Back on this Love
Reviewed in the United States on 2 April 2018Verified Purchase
We've had glimpeses of the love between Tommaso and Camilla in a few different books featured in this world from the Marcellos, the Donati's, and even the Guzzi's. Now, we get to peek behind the curtain and see it from the beginning with Effortless.
While this love may be effortless, getting there is an uphill battle...for one of them. I appreciate how Tom and Cam come together (superfast), but the have to put in the work to get where they want/need to be.
While this book is a stand alone, it represents the Legacy so well and supports what's to come for other couples so well, it fits Bethany-Kris's body of work and deserves 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟.
