Product Description

Inspired by one of the most romantic movies of all time, An Affair to Remember, starring Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr.

Sydney St. James has decided to settle. She says yes to Mr. Not Quite Right and sets sail on a cruise to Alaska for her bachelorette party. But when Sydney meets Silicon Valley’s most eligible bachelor aboard the ship, her world turns upside down. Oscar Martin is handsome, charming, and to make matters worse...he gets her completely.

Oscar has his own problems—and his own fiancée. He'd planned the cruise as a last ditch attempt to save their relationship, but she decided to skip it. The tide turns when he meets Sydney as they both reach for the last eclair at the dessert station. Now he can’t get the beautiful, feisty woman off his mind.

Oscar is certain serendipity brought them together. Sydney is not so sure. But the cruise will be a trip of self-discovery for both of them, and fate will have the final word.

5.0 out of 5 stars Modern, sweet and funny take on a classic 2 January 2016

An Eclair to Remember is a modern, sweet, funny and utterly enjoyable take on one of the most romantic and classic love stories of all times. Handsome and effortlessly charming Oscar Martin meets his feisty match, Sydney St James, on board of a cruise to Alaska and sparks fly when they both reach for the last eclair at the ship's cafe. The chemistry between the two is undeniable and continues to build up as the story progresses. The scenes on board of the Alaska cruise are incredibly fun. I felt like I was right there, cruising the frozen waters, watching breathtaking glaciers and flying on a helicopter over the amazing Alaskan landscape. Of course, if you are familiar with an Affair to Remember, you will know that some serious heartbreak lies ahead for beautiful Sydney and her handsome Spanish beau, but you will be right there with them until the end. This is a sweet, funny and romantic story that will keep you dreaming, laughing and maybe, at times, even crying a little bit with its main characters and that in the end, will put a big warm smile on your face.

5.0 out of 5 stars Serendipity wins! 21 February 2016

Who would have thought that a modern-day guy could write such a beautiful love story?
I loved it! Think I sat with a huge grin plastered on my face 90% of the time. The rest of the time I still listened/read with rapt attention.
Where has this author been hiding until recently? He is so talented and all his stories just communicate and make you feel and love along with the characters.
If you're not a believer in serendipity, you will be by the end of this story.

If you are looking for some great literary work of romantic fiction you have definitely picked up the wrong book. If you are looking for a quirky, easy romantic comedy then keep on reading! Sydney is on a cruise to Alaska with her bestie before her wedding. Knowing her fiance would have no interest in traveling there, he hates the cold, it's her last chance to visit. Oscar is supposed to be on the same cruise with his fiancee in order to rekindle their flame. However, she refuses to go, not understanding why it's so important for her to go. And on the first night of the cruise, Sydney and Oscar meet over the last eclair. And have a silly spat over the last eclair. Which all sets the scene for a cute, slightly over the top, romantic comedy. Obviously, they end up falling in love but not without a few bumps and bruises along the way.

I liked this book for a couple of different reasons. First, I appreciate that Amooi was able to create an entertaining romantic comedy without having people fall into bed on the first date. To be fair there really wasn't any specific first date. And to be fair they never fell into bed either. That alone gains stars in my opinion! Secondly, I liked the whimsy that it was written with. It wasn't over the top, though it wasn't real life either. It was innocent and loving and silly. It was the perfect weekend read of friendship, and love, and challenges and happily ever after. It's not a literary work of art. It's not over the top lust without romance. It's just a pretty decent 'beach read'.
3.0 out of 5 stars Sweet, but Overdramatic 27 May 2016

It was a cute read, with no grammar or spelling errors that I noticed. I liked the idea of the plot, and from the sample I really liked the characters.

I kind of lost that fascination with the characters as the story went on. I think Oscar (and his family) and Leo were the only characters that I liked the entire novel (and only one of them was a regular character). A lot of the characters either had two personalities or were stock characters. Alexa was a crazy Bridezilla from the get-go, but we never learned anything about her motivations. If she was a gold-digger, why wouldn't she seize the opportunity to have as many glamorous vacations as possible? And we never learned a thing about Elliot. Why would he pursue a relationship if he was gone all but four days of the month? And honestly, his reaction to the engagement being broken might be a bit more believable if he had shown some interest in Sydney--like a phone call?

The book had some serious telenovela qualities--a tragic backstory, a medical emergency and miraculous recovery, random crying episodes, some serious serendipity, and overall just a lot of over-the-top drama. I'm pretty sure Sydney has two different personalities as well.

It isn't a bad story, but I feel like the characters weren't thought out (and in some cases, thought of). So, it's a cute read, but I wouldn't take it too seriously.

5.0 out of 5 stars A photo to remember 5 January 2016

A host of unpredictable things can happen on a cruise to Alaska… not all having to do with walking on ancient ice fields, almost being eaten by a bear, or posing for the perfectly timed photo with a bald eagle. Rich Amooi has ventured into this unknown territory on a brand new cruise ship. Throughout the story, Rich tries hard to prevent the very likeable characters from making major mistakes in their young lives. Rich has got them fighting over dessert, exchanging hilarious quips, scheming to outsmart each other, and he succeeds – find out how, for yourself!
