I went blind into this book, only being told that it’s an ‘intense’ read, and intense it was. I spent a lot of time confused by this book, trying to guess who was who and what was going on, but nothing could have prepared me for the reality of the storyline.
This book may trigger some, as it touches on DID, murder and sexual abuse, and to a degree, emotional abuse as well. I can’t imagine how the author has put together this storyline but I’d recommend it to anyone.
If I could give any advise to an unsure reader, it would be to keep pushing on, and it will all come together.
I think this is one of Margarets best written books. It's so raw and the emotions it envokes is indescribable.
I cried I'm not going to lie. I love all the characters and how different they are but Neve oh my, gosh she's so strong and to put herself through all that pain and torment.
Molly is amazingly strong and the ending is perfect.
Echoes of you is the perfect name for this book.
Margeret, you've outdone yourself, but I've never read a book i haven't loved. 🥰
It touches on some sensitive subjects which will leave you absolutely heartbroken and feeling so many different emotions. Make sure you have tissues because I was crying several times while reading this heartfelt story.
It is a long story!! So get yourself comfy and block out your day. It is a book with so many layers and is so well written with incredible characters and a storyline that is beautifully unique.
Echoes of You is not an easy read, and because of that, this book isn’t going to appeal to everyone. It is, however, a powerful book; full of emotion, pain, suffering, and glimpses of hope. It’s a book about family, trust and the decisions we make. It’s a book you need to EXPERIENCE to understand it’s value, heart and soul. For that reason, I can’t really talk in detail about the narrative itself. Except to say, do your self a favour and read this book!
While the subject matter dealt with in Echoes of You is heavy, Mcheyzer has cleverly crafted a sophisticated and sincere novel that speaks to the heart. The characters, the situations and the outcomes are all treated sensitively. You feel their pain, insecurity and confusion. You yearn for their happy ever after and you swear at McHeyzer and some of the characters for doing what they do!
Although this book has a large page count, every one of those 489 pages flies by. With the use of a provoking prologue, followed by compelling characters that inspire you to reach through the page to look after them, McHeyzer’s characters suck you in real fast. You want, no NEED to know what is happening and race to reveal the twists and turns of McHeyzer’s story. So much so, that I read this book in pretty much two sittings over the course of two days. The story is just so compelling and the writing clever, that you won’t want to put it down for long.
Reading a Margaret McHeyzer book is always a unique experience, this holds especially true when it comes to this particular book, Echoes of You. I do highly recommend this book, but I also wish to warn people that need trigger warnings, that this book is not going to be for you. It’s rough, it’s real life, but it’s brilliant.
The twists had me screaming OMG I didn’t see that coming over and over again by the last half of the book I was so invested the world faded away and I had to know what was happening and what was going to happen.
It’s now been 4 hours since I finished and I’m devastated, I want more. The author finished the book beautifully and I have no questions, I was just so invested in the story I never wanted it to end.
*Please don’t read spoilers for this book, you need to experience it all.*
This is my best read of 2020 if I could give it more than 5 stars I would

Life was picture perfect for Molly until one day her world tilted on its axis and her past came rushing forward and a family’s strength shone through.
This story will make you cry, laugh and see that there are still some good people in the world. Sure in true McHeyzer style the subject matter and challenging scenes will test you as the background to this story rings true.
Thank you Margaret for a beautiful story even though the subject matter is heartbreaking.
