About the Author
WILLIAM F. RUDDIMAN retired from the University of Virginia at an early age and has since devoted his time to research, writing, and lecturing. He has written trade books and numerous journal articles. While at Virginia, he taught an introductory climate course on a regular basis, therefore much of the work in the book reflects lessons learned through his own experiences.

Very informative. I got this to read for a Paleoclimatology class and the content is in-depth enough at the beginning to get a good grasp on the concept while allowing more to be explained later in the chapter.

I am disappointed again at the lack of accessibility options with kindle format textbooks. I cant even use this because of the lack of text to speak function even when I use my screen readers. I have talked to support many times over they YEARS. I have been a great customer with amazon. but you don't seem to care about me.
Great Climate Textbook16 July 2015 - Published on Amazon.com
First Edition is mildly outdated, but still contains a lot of valuable information on climate history. The author covers earth's climate from roughly 4Bya to the present, its history, changes and best guess on causation. Highly recommended reading if you are interested in climate change.

Excellent!30 May 2014 - Published on Amazon.com
This book is a must-read for anyone who wants to have a solid understanding of past climates. It is thorough and engaging. Although designed (presumably) for college students, I enjoyed reading it as faculty, to deepen my understanding of the factors that control climate variability -- especially plate tectonics and associated chemistry. Many textbooks shy away from all the chemistry involved in climate variations. Ruddiman does it all, and does it well.
