ENTER TOMORROW with a YA Robot Cyberpunk Dystopia series

EXOTIQA - Book 1
THIRTY - Book 1.5
SPHERE - Book 2

Excerpt: Machine BC001001F2050A
"Dense forest everywhere. Visibility unclear. I blink— at least, I think this is what humans call blinking. My eyes never have to close, except to keep debris out and to go into maximum memory mode. My lids shut quickly and open with a shuttered click. I run—Am I panting?—but to where, I do not know. I only know I have to get away, far away from ImaTech and Machine BC001230M2054C."

Set in the robot cyberpunk year 2055 in British Columbia, Canada, where humans are part robotic and robots are becoming more humanlike, the line dividing the two is becoming less clear. When the nation is controlled by a popular online program, those that deviate risk their lives. But that never stopped Fione.

Read the second release by author M. Black (Enter Tomorrow). Filled with haunting questions of consciousness and artificial intelligence, identity and self-awareness, politics and love, life and death, the reader will be engaged in an entertaining story filled with futuristic technology.

When sixteen-year-old Fione meets Maci, a twenty-one-year-old Flexbot who escapes from ImaTech located along the crust of the Coast Mountains, Fione’s life is taken on a roller-coaster ride of events that begins with trying to save Maci from ImaTech Corporation and ends with trying to save the country. With Fione's best friend and love interest, a Flexbot named Pix, Fione and Maci must come face-to-face with the greatest dangers their country has ever seen and learn the disturbing secrets of the popular online program Exotiqa—which her friends, family, and most of the country has downloaded onto their Cerebral Slabs. This won’t be easy, since Maci’s only love and greatest enemy, nicknamed Thirty, is tracking her every move.

This robot cyberpunk will appeal to fans of Divergent, Configured, Freelancer, iRobot, The Glitch, Blade Runner, artificial intelligence, robotics, and futuristic technology will enjoy this story about two young, but strong female heroines who must save the fragile system crumbling around them.

Flexbot dialogue is told in Synchro Let text in print (10 font size in ebook), and human dialogue is told in Baskerville text (12 font size).

Elon Musk announced the NUERAL LACE, a real life interface for the brain, designed by Telsa and SpaceX. My book was written in 2015, released in 2017. My interface is the SLAB. EXOTIQA is the program downloaded into the SLAB. Real life and my fiction are eerily similar!

"The difference of narration between the eyes of a human and that of a robot is really fun. It is distinct and well thought out, of how each being would feel and see things." -Francine

"The book explores a new avenue in robotics with emotional attachments starting to develop between robots and even between humans and bots. On their quest to prevent the destruction of the world as we know it, our heros set off on a journey to ImaTech to destroy Exotiqa, meeting up with some interesting characters and becoming involved in a lot of action including an exciting car chase worthy of any Speilberg movie. In fact. I thoroughly enjoyed the book despite it being designed to appeal to a young adult audience, but then I am big kid at heart. In my opinion this is a great read for anyone of any age. A warining shot across the bows of AI advocates. Marvelous!" -Ken

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Well Written! So hard to put down! 10 April 2017

Exotiqa by M. Black is book 1 in herExotiqa World series. In this book we are introduced to Fiona, a 16 year old human girl and we are introduced to Machine BC001001F2050A who becomes named Maci by Fiona. Maci is on the run from ImaTech and being hunted by Machine BC001230M2054C. One of her creators has made the decision that she is going rogue because of her breaking the rules, breaking curfew and disappearing for hours at a time and has come to the decision that it is best if she be destroyed. Russel Wagner, one of her creators, believes that she should be allowed to continue to function and that they should continue to study her to better understand what is going on not just with her but with other bots like her but his cohort will not be dissuaded and now Maci is on the run. She has a chance encounter with Fiona in her attempt to hide and escape her trackers. Fiona makes the decision to help Maci out and with the aid of her Flexbot crush, Pix, Fiona will try to save not only Maci but the country from the newest program that is running people’s lives…EXOTIQA.
Exotiqa is an engaging Dystopian cyberpunk story of where in the not too distant future humans are becoming more like machines and machines are becoming more human. We’re switching places a little at a time and the future is a dark place that we are heading towards. Maci is on the run becomes she knows something that she shouldn’t and her behavior is no longer in line with how her creators believe that it should be. She is trying to escape to a safe haven of where she believes that she will be able to disappear and blend in but getting there will be no easy task for her. She’s going to need help but in getting that help she is endangering those who would help her. But the danger is already all around them. Flexbots are killing humans, they are protected by laws that justify their actions and reactions and nothing is being done. Fiona sees it on the news and talks about it in the chat rooms with her friend Spear. They wish to return to a time before Exotiqa but can Fiona save those around her or will she be swept up as well?
This is the first book I’ve ever read like this and I have to say that I was engaged from the beginning all the way to the end. Just imagining a world like this is disturbing, exciting but then strange at the same time. It’s dystopian but without the mass destruction that we are so used to in most dystopian novels. This book reflects and focuses mostly on technology advancing to the point that we are becoming more robotic in attempts to lengthen our lives, assimilate more quickly and engage more quickly with the world around us so gone are – cell phones, smart phones, laptops, tablets. Things are done in our heads with technology and nanotech. Robots are being programmed to emulate humans more closely and the lines are becoming blurred between human and machine. This book pulls you in and has you engaged and wanting to learn what is going to happen next.
This story is told from two different viewpoints – Maci’s and Fiona’s. They switch back and forth in alternating chapters and I really like and appreciate how smoothly it happens. It makes follow the story really fluid and there are no hiccups. The author does a really good job going and filling in places of where they felt that the reader would want some explanation and it is very well done.
I am very much engaged in this series and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. I’m eager to read more and see where things continue to go and evolve. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. A very well done and well written scifi dystopian novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars The world of Exotiqa is so amazing.... 22 May 2017

Imagine living in a world where humans are becoming like robots and flexbots are becoming like humans. Well Fione, Maci and Pix do just that. The humans have what they call slabs inserted into their brain and a device in their palms. A slab work more like computers and palms work more like a phone or tablet. Fione uses her slab for things like working with files and her palm for surfing the internet and texting her friends.

Maci has runaway/escaped from ImaTech and her creator. Maci is a Flexbot and all the bots are being downloaded with a program called Exotiqa and Maci wants no part of this new program. She has seen what it has done to her friend Thirty. He no longer recognizes her as his friend; he no longer feels the same way about her as he did before. Exotiqa takes away the part that makes him Thirty.

And now the human world has gotten a new update, Exotiqa including most of Fione’s friends. With this new update humans are now acting like robots. They no longer have any feelings. They walk around like zombies. But Fione and Pix have refused to download Exotiqa and are very glad they have after seeing all their friends.

Now Maci, Fione and Pix are all on the run from the people and Flexbots at ImaTech. Of course neither one wants to be downloaded with Exotiqa but Maci has other reasons for running as well. Someone has put out a hit on Maci’s life. But they are not only fighting for their own lives now they are fighting for the whole country, the whole world as well as their family and friends, human and flexbot alike.

If anyone knows me or follow my reviews then you know that I love a good dystopian or science fiction novel. So when I kept hearing about Exotiqa I just had to read it. And boy am I ever glad I did. I loved it beyond reason. I kept seeing it play out in my head like a movie. I wanted to see it on the big screen. The world of Exotiqa is so amazing I don’t have any words for it.

Maci reminds me of the characters Leeloo from the movie The Fifth Element and Starman from the movie Starman. Leeloo or Starman know how to speak to humans or their language. I loved watching them learn how to talk and pick up human characteristics like I loved reading about Maci and seeing her in mind trying to be sarcastic or making facial features.

I would recommend Exotiqa to anyone who loves science fiction and/or dystopian books. Come join Fione, Maci and Pix to see if they can save the world!

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it! 12 April 2017

Fione is trying to adapt to the ever growing use of technology around her. She's also trying to bring awareness to how wrong and dangerous the FlexBots are around her. Can she convince her friends and family that something seems to be off about the newest technology and it's release? Maci is a Flex Bot that was created by ImaTech. Unlike the rest of the bots though, she seems to have a strong sense of self-awareness. Sensing danger in the latest program, she flees for fear of having it downloaded into her system.

I was very intrigued by this book from the moment I got it. I wasn't disappointed. It was great! I loved the story and the technology in it. Both of the heroines in the story were remarkable in their own rights. I read a book awhile back called Freelancer. This book was very similar to that, but more action packed and in two points of view instead of just one. I'm not saying they lack originality. I loved both. They are both great reads!

I really didn't have too many problems with this book at all. I feel like it could use a light polish to get rid of some typos, but as a writer myself, I know that you will never see a perfectly typo free book. You can edit a book a thousand times and still find things wrong with it. I also wish that some of the characters had a bigger role in the matter. Other than that, I didn't really see anything wrong with it.

I do fully recommend this book. If they are into science fiction dystopian type books, then this is a great read. I was very impressed with it and I found myself wanting to just read and read to the very end. I can't wait to see the other books in this series. I can't wait to see where it goes from here. I drew so many parallels to Freelancer, which only made me love this book more! I also drew some parallels to Jurassic Park.
4.0 out of 5 stars Need Sequel now!!!! 5 May 2017

Exotiqa a book that asks what is human? I found this so intriguing because science fiction constantly ask what make a person a person. This is something that has always drawn me to the genre. Their are to main characters in this book. One is Fiona who is human and the other is Maci who is a machine. Maci is on the run from ImaTech because they have decide that she needs to be destroyed. Following an issue with her programming that she is rejecting. She meets Fiona who feels that Exotiqa needs to be stopped. So she decides to help Maci and the story really takes off from there. I felt that this book was reminiscent of the movie IRobot. Which is a favorite of mine.
I think anyone who loves sci-fi will love this book. Especially the ones with technology gone wrong or tech taking over. I am so excited to see where this series is headed and I can't get the sequel fast enough.

Fantastic storyline, sort of a mix of Stepford Wives and Invasion of the Body Snatchers! You will love this fast-paced YA book of sentient robots and how software can infect them as well as humans. I did.
