Once again it is lovely to be able to read top quality crime fiction from over 50 years ago. Many basic principles are the same ;it is just technology and resourcing that seems to have changed so much . The synopsis tells all any reader needs to know.

The Polytechnic background is very well done as is the slightly old fashioned and slow on the uptake police investigation . It is a good attempt to try and convey the student disruptions of the time...they seem so dated and pointless now ..but then . ? The only time I found the book feeling really dated was when it came to the " drugs " episodes . At this price I would strongly recommend new readers to this very good author . He writes with precision and without padding and about subjects of which he was knowledgeable .
