Product Description

1919. As the euphoria of the Armistice fades, the nation counts the cost: millions dead or disabled, unemployment, strikes and shortages. As prices and taxes rise, it becomes harder to remember what the war was for.

Teddy tries to recreate balance but then a trip to France to see the place where Ned fell has unforeseen consequences; Polly, grieving for Erich Kuppel, persuades her father to send her to New York. Despite Prohibtion, the great city, pulsing with life, promises her a fresh start; Jessie and Bertie, detained in London by Bertie's job, long to start their new life together; Jack becomes a pioneer of civil aviation, but when the company fails he's faced with unemployment, with a growing family to support.

The generation that saw things no man should see must find relief from their own memories. A new world is struggling to be born out of the ashes; but as long as the music lasts, they will keep on dancing.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Series of Books I have read 20 December 2013
By Celeste - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
I envy anyone who begins this journey buying the first in the series of Morland Dynasty books. Although any of the books can be read alone the real joy is to read them in sequence. It's like watching a family grow from one generation to the next.
The wealth of history you absorb along the was just adds to the enjoyment. Because some of the characters are "at court" you feel like you are there experiencing the events. It gives you a different perspective to see how these events influence everyone's life.
Her writing style is nice and easy. The characters are so well developed that they too seem real.
These are the first books I have ever read and re read.
If you are reading this review to decide if you want to buy a book, any one of them, and you enjoy historical novels I know you will feel about them as I and so many of CHE's fans do. Enjoy
5.0 out of 5 stars I loved "The Morland Dynasty" from the beginning 19 November 2014

I loved "The Morland Dynasty" from the beginning, with "The Founding", and 33 books later I don't want the story to stop. The Dancing Years captures the spirit of the years immediately after WW1 brilliantly. In every book so far, Cynthia Harrod Eagles has kept me turning the pages, desperate to know what happens to the characters she draws so well, and I think that once I reach the end of volume 35 I'm going to go right back to number 1 and start again! She has moved me to tears many times. But most of all, she's brought to vivid life all the history that I knew only as dry dates and dusty facts, and made it real. Splendid!
5.0 out of 5 stars Morland Dynasty 19 May 2014

Throughout the Morland Dynasty novels, CHE has managed to not only intertwine history within a saga but has managed to create the essence of the particular period. I wholeheartedly recommend readers to start with The Foundling - the first book in the series - and read them chronologically - although the individual books can stand on their own as CHE manages to relate relevant situations or people for the reader to understand the present occurrence. The Dancing Years is no exception. Excellent.
5.0 out of 5 stars Can't wait for the next book 14 October 2012

This book is a great read, it lives up to the rest of this absorbing series. The pace moves along nicely and does not get bogged down with minute detail but still maintains a great period feel. The characters are well drawn and you really want to know what happens to them, can't wait for the next installment.

5.0 out of 5 stars I am sad. 17 June 2012

This was the second last book in a serie I have read for more than 30 years.
I have reread some of them and I like them all. The book was ever so good as all the others. I warmly recommend to read all the books. I will continue to read them over and over again.
