This is the first in the series of three young wallflowers. It is a sweet quick read, perfect for relaxing and taking your mind off the world's worries. As usual, the characters were well written and very likable. I enjoyed the way the next book was set up throughout this one and will be looking forward to reading the next 2 books. There was no sex in this book but lots of kisses. It is a happy book to read.
Riddled with anachronisms plus americanisms spoken by english characters, this is not a real regency. The characters are formulaic, there is very little wit, and the plot is predictable. A very boring read.
Daisy is a wallflower and with her two friends renamed Lily and Marigold are usually content to stay together at balls. At a house party, an childhood acquaintance attends and Daisy has not seen him for a long time. When they meet she slams open a balcony door, only to hit him with it! What an introduction! Griff is looking for a wife. That wife is decidedly not going to be Daisy. Griff is a grumpy, frowny, growly kind of a person who has been hurt by his first marriage. Daisy reminds him of her. Daisy is not like her at all! As Griff comes to know her, hold and kiss her, he will change his mind!
SWOON!!!!!! The characters are likeable and relatable! Griff is so much like a Mr Darcy! He is prejudiced, obnoxious, and rude, with a wall in place he is going to marry and it won't be for love. It's a fine plan until he meets Daisy. The story is well written and fast paced. The story is filled with lots of situations in which the couple interact so that they can form a relationship. The story is told from dual POVs and reveals the thoughts feelings and emotions as they explore their relationship! There is an epilogue and a HEA!
This is a sweet romance. The book is the first of a series that will feature her friends - Marigold and Lily!
An absolutely delight to read. Although this is the first of a series it is a stand alone book although personally I will read the next 2 books. No major dramas, mystery or sex scenes but one of the best books I have read. Keeps you interested and Daisy has some mishaps that makes her character appealing and slightly humorous. Her two close friends add to the mix well as does the Duke. A soothing book that increased my curiosity the more I read.
4.5 Stars Daisy is a wallflower. Or at least, she was for the last three seasons but this season her prospects are brighter and, much to her mother's delight, she may just make a match. When the duke she once adored from a distance arrives at the house party she's attending with her friends, she knows for certain her luck has changed. Until she meets him & finds him to be rude, grim, and not at all the knight in shining armour she believed him to be as a child, the now-widowed Duke of Dolan treats her boorishly bad. The first in a new series & a lovely read that I read in one sitting. It made me smile practically all the way through. Griff is the disillusioned Duke who has no interest in love, Daisy is the accident prone, young woman who wants a love match, together they are perfect but assumptions, misunderstandings all get in the way of their burgeoning romance. Another well written fun, entertaining read which I thoroughly enjoyed & now I’m looking forward to Marigold & Lilys’ stories

There are no chipmunks in England! Young Regency ladies did not ‘unfriend’ each other. I doubt there is an English Duke to this day with the name of Griff. Huge flights of fancy amongst many unlikely scenarios; I know it’s fiction but this pushed the limit for me.
3.0 out of 5 starsEntertaining enough story, but disappointingly jarring historical (geographical)errors

The potential of a business-like arrangement with the risk of unrequited love marrs the dreams of her love match.
This was an entertaining story, with lots of clumsiness and clichéd confusion. So, why only 3 stars? As other reviewers have noted, the inclusion of a chipmunk. It's such a small thing (both in the literal and figurative sense), but the obvious lack of simple research just spoils what was a light-hearted romance. Yes it's not the only inaccurate part of the story, there's plenty of historical etiquette inaccuracies which I'm willing to forgive for the sake of a light story, but it's like saying that a herd of elephants stomped across the plains in an American Historical romance. Really? Would the American audience be happy at such an occurrence? Very shoddy that this got through research (I assume some of this took place), editing, and all the other points pre-publication. It smacks slightly of shoehorning a story into the regency period for the sake of more money. Disappointing

I liked the story, the characters are great, with some great interaction. Got 4 stars instead of 5, because a chipmunk spooked Daisy's horse!!! Really? Never known chipmunks in England! More research needed. A LOL moment when Daisy said a horse is eating her hair.
