Product Description

From thriller and suspense master Brett Battles comes Dream Sky, the sixth book in the continuing Project Eden thriller saga.

A hush has settled over the planet. The once dominant human race is in full retreat. But man is not yet defeated.

Augustine dream sky. These were Matt Hamilton’s last words. Daniel Ash has no idea what they mean, but he’s sure they are key to defeating Project Eden. His only hope is that he’s able to figure out the secret in time.

The survivors on Isabella Island are surrounded by death, and need to get off the island before the flu can claim them, too. But there are not enough boats at the resort to get everyone to safety. The only solution involves a risky trip to the mainland that may be even more dangerous than remaining on the island.

In Mumbai, Sanjay’s friends watch as the Project Eden survival station is abandoned. Curious, they search the facility once everyone has left. They expect to find very little, and at first they are right. But only at first.

Ben Bowerman’s search for his girlfriend, Martina Gable, takes him to the only place left he thinks she can be. When he gets there, he’s hurled into the unexpected, where he begins to see the truth of what is really going on, and knows if he doesn’t do something drastic, his days are numbered.

And in an idyllic town covered by a blanket of snow, all is quiet. Except for the rotating squad of soldiers who watch and wait for a problem they believe becomes more and more unlikely as each day passes. The world, after all, is quickly depleting.

But they are wrong.

Eden Rising is best read after completing volumes 1-5 (Sick, Exit 9, Pale Horse, Ashes, and Eden Rising)

Praise for the Project Eden Thrillers

“Sick didn’t just hook me. It hit me with a devastating uppercut on every primal level—as a parent, a father, and a human being.”—Blake Crouch, author of Run

“[A] gem of an outbreak story that unfolds like a thriller movie and never lets up, all the way to the last page. Absolutely my favorite kind of story!”—John Maberry, New York Times bestselling author

“[Sick] not only grabs you by the throat, but by the heart and gut as well, and by the time you finish you feel as if you've just taken a runaway train through dangerous territory. Buy these books now. You won't regret it.”—Robert Browne, best selling author of Trial Junkies

“You think Battles was badass before? He just cranked it up to 500 joules. CLEAR!”—

“Brett Battles at his best, a thriller that also chills, with a secret at its core that's almost too scary to be contained within the covers of a book.”—Tim Hallinan, author of the Edgar-nominated The Queen of Patpong

Brett Battles is the author of over twenty novels and several short stories. His second novel, The Deceived (part of his Jonathan Quinn series), won the Barry Award for Best Thriller. He is one of the founding members of Killer Year, and is a member of International Thriller Writers. He lives and writes in Los Angeles.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does not disappoint! 3 February 2014

Dream Sky is the sixth book in the Project Eden series. If you're reading this review and have never read any of the other books, you should check out the Amazon page for "Sick," which is the first book. These books are not stand-alone so starting at #6 is ill-advised. While Battles does what he can to summarize characters and events that have been fleshed out in previous books, I don't think it would be enough for someone who hasn't read the other books. However, those summaries are appreciated for all of us who have had long waits in between releases. (Thanks, Mr. Battles!).

For those who have read other books in the series, definitely read this one. As an avid reader (consuming 3-4 books a week), I know that many series start to fall apart as each new book is published. That Mr. Battles can keep each book fresh, interesting, and heart-pounding while still maintaining the flow and integrity of the story is a testament to his skill as a writer. If you loved the other books, you'll be immensely pleased with this one. The only disappointment you'll feel is the frustration of having to wait for #7 because, in true Project Eden style, this one ends amidst a major plot threshold.

[Comments about grammatical errors have been removed because the errors have since been fixed].

Despite this one drawback, I still give the book five stars because it delivered on all the expectations that I had for the next book in a fantastic series. Eagerly, I await #7. If only the waits got easier with time...

Review update:

The author has informed me that the grammatical errors have been resolved since I received my pre-ordered Kindle copy. Please disregard those comments in my earlier review. Here's my new, updated review:

This book is awesome. Just buy it. :)
4.0 out of 5 stars Great book worth the time! 21 December 2016

The continuation of this story is good. Still well written. Although the book is great, I felt like it was longer than it should have been. I'm not saying it was poorly written or the pace was off. I feel like the focus wasn't on moving the story along. It is still a great book and I would highly recommend it, but the other books in the series are just slightly better.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent series. Battles made it onto my favorite authors list. 27 March 2017

This series is addictive.

I plowed through all six books and was only sorry the story arc finished.

I went looking for other titles by this author, he writes well and spins a very plausible yarn.

4.0 out of 5 stars New Boss 18 January 2014

Matt is dead. Pax comes back. Daniel Ash is now the reluctant leader of the Resistance. Sanjay has come into his own and has successfully formed a new branch of the Resistance in India. There is more, of course. Like any good soap opera, the stories just keep on coming. Only instead of daily, we have to wait for what seems like all eternity (or sometime later in 2014, whichever comes first) for the next segment to come out.

This e-book needs some serious editing. Ruby got put into quarantine, then was referred to as he/him. Then she shows up in the holding pen while still in quarantine. I got so confused, I had to go back to see if I had misread who had been put in quarantine. Then there was the college student that writes the journal. She wound up with Martina's last name.

Was the book good? Of course it was. Will I continue to read the series? Absolutely.

Once again I'll remind those of you just finding this series that the books need to be read in order.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read Suspenseful Thriller! 6 February 2014

I absolutely love this series! The author, Brett Battles, has a way of making you feel as if you are not just reading a book, but experiencing it as well! The entire concept is so realistic, that you can't help but find yourself think - what if? If you enjoy mystery, thrillers, with a touch of what it really means to be human - the good and the evil - you will not be disappointed! You must, however, due to the complexity of the characters, start with the first book, Sick! Again, I love this series and if you're a fan of say, Dean Koontz, Stephen King, and Michael Crichton or that type of author, you will love it too!
