3.0 out of 5 stars Fun Historical Read 8 September 2016
By GrnEyed Reader - Published on

This book is rather formulaic but it is still a fun read. I enjoyed the language and the historical aspects to the book.

Lady Bryce is a young woman who is untouched by men. She is also a woman with a special gift. This gifts allows her to enter the dreams of others and get them to do her bidding. The concept of this possibility is fun and intriguing. The reasons that Lady Bryce uses her “gift” is completely understandable. Her father is trying to marry her off and she has no interest in the men he has chosen.

Things change when Lady Bryce encounters Lord Rowland. He is a handsome man of breeding and wealth. Lady Bryce decides no matter what, he will be her husband, even if she has to use her gift to make that happen. The question is, once she gets what she wants through the use of her gift, does she want it after all? There is also the question of what will happen to her if the truth comes out regarding her gift. As this book takes place when witchcraft and the dark arts led many people to their death, could the same occur to Lady Bryce if anyone discovers her secret?

This is a fun read that I completed rather quickly. There were some fun revelations and I found Lord Rowland’s many attempts to deny his interest in Lady Bryce amusing. The supporting characters, including Rowland’s friend Alan, his sister, Emma, Lady Bryce’s father, as well as other characters made the book well-rounded and written. If you are looking for a quick read that is amusing, romantic, and has a bit of historical flair to it, give this book a shot.
4.0 out of 5 stars Sexy and simple 10 September 2016

This is a historical fiction romance novel, with significantly more emphasis on the romance. That's not meant to be a criticism - Hachtel writes her steamy scenes with care, and builds the tension between her lovers beautifully. It's the classic story of a woman who decides to seduce a man, only this woman has the added ability to visit her target in his sleep. The twist makes for an interesting courtship, and lends the story some uniqueness. Some of Hachtel's major plot points, however, are written too quickly, and lose their impact. Unfortunately, these tend to be moments where the villain should be developed, or when the reader should be held in at least some suspense as to whether the protagonists will find a way out of their predicament. Instead, these scenes are rushed.

So: if you're looking for a fun, flirty romp then this book is for you! If you're hoping for character complexity or an intricate plot, this may not satisfy.
5.0 out of 5 stars an enchanting tale that brings along with it an equally enchanting cast of characters 17 September 2016

This is my third book by Leslie Hatchel, and it certainly will not be the last. The author has a gift for writing charming and witty historical romances much like the protagonist, Lady Bryce has a gift for invading dreams. Lady Bryce can enter dreams and have others do her will. She only uses this gift for specific reasons, such as preventing an unwanted suitor from continuing to pursue her. That is until Lord Rowland enters the picture. She wants this one to stay. She uses her gift to help him fall in love with her, but one has to ask--- can it be true love if it is in any way coerced? What will happen when her secret gift is exposed?

Hatchel spins an enchanting tale that brings along with it an equally enchanting cast of characters. If you are fan of historical romances, you will not be disappointed.
5.0 out of 5 stars A unique love story that is a must read! 14 September 2016

This is the first book I've read by Leslie Hachtel and I very much enjoyed it!
It's based in England in the 1600's where Lady Bryce has discovered that she is able to enter other people's dreams to influence them. What an extraordinary concept! She has used this trait to scare away potential husbands her father has picked out for her, as she had no love or desire for these typically older men.
Then along comes Lord Rowland, who immediately catches Lady Bryce's eye! She has feelings towards him that she has never had for another man before. Should she use her dream dancing abilities on him?
This love story has many twists and turns and kept me wanting more the whole way through!

I really enjoyed this book! It is the first I have read by Leslie Hatchell and I look forward to checking out more of her works. This novel was intriguing and engaging and I found myself constantly surprised by the story. There was romance, there was humor, there were plot twists. What more can you ask for? The story was written well and Lady Bryce's gift of influencing others through their dreams is so original. I enjoyed this book from the beginning and highly recommend it for lovers of romance with a touch of fantasy and humor!
