5.0 out of 5 stars Very well done 7 May 2013

An enjoyable easy-to-read novella with most engaging characters and some angst to keep the excitement up. The story is set in Australia - a big plus for me! - and focuses on Nick, a sculptor and Zoe, an artist who share their workshop space and shop. Neither realises the other is dead keen, but they are about to go on a short break together, when the serpent enters the picture...

Fast-paced, well-written and edited, the characters are believable and likable. Schwartz' writing exudes warmth and passion. It is not too often that a book leaves me with a happy glow, but this one did :)

I hope to read more of this author's work!
5.0 out of 5 stars Creative Affair 13 December 2012

This little story weaves the creative elements of paint and sculpture into an intriguing romance. With words, the story is painted with attention to emotion and intrigue. Not only is it an enjoyable escape, there are lots of moments where the author has drawn on the subtext to provide greater depth to the story line, eg body language (Nick and his doorway). This story has the right balance of emotion, story and believable characters and I'd love to read about their growing romance when they take that break away up the coast ...

An easy read - I think it took a little over an hour. Lovely characters - except the villian.... HATE her! Although it's short, the story still developed nicely from the beginning, a couple of conflicts and a nice ending.

4.0 out of 5 stars An endearing short story 27 January 2013

Format: Kindle Edition
Zoe and Nick share an art studio in Australia and also share mutual romantic aspirations towards each other...not that they have ever admitted their feelings. He grew up as a friend of her family and was actually her cousin Steve's best friend throughout their childhood. When a threat from Nick and Steve's past reappears, he must take matters into his own hands to save his family and friends. But will Zoe step in to help after Nick confides in her? And will their romance ever get off the ground?

This may be a very brief story, but it is quite well thought out. There is just enough explanation of their past to understand the logistics and make it believable. There's also something so seductive about an artist's studio as a setting...the sketches, the painted canvases and the clay ready to be molded for pottery. The spark between Zoe and Nick is palpable and will keep you reading to see if they get their HEA. I hope this story proves to be the starting point of a longer novel. I would love to see what's in store for them in the future.
