This book just makes no sense. It felt like it was missing pages and I kept reading waiting for explanations and background or something to make sense but it never came.
The action is always explained after the fact. There's unnecessary detail about really mundane things but zero detail about key aspects of the story.
Like the dragon rider Merrick is compelled to act by something called a geis. This is never explained, never mentioned until after the fact, never given context.
This happens constantly, there's just no context given. It's never really told what a dragon rider is, why they don't know anything about mating bonds, who the Purists are or why the Amish are looking to murder Brooklyn.
Just so much missing information, I'm really annoyed it's ended without answers. Definitely not reading any more of this author's work.
Not 1 star bad but not worth the time either.
