For better or for worse, it's pretty much what you expect from a Chris Claremont book - those that like his work will enjoy, those that look down their metaphorical noses won't. People interested in a description of a medieval reenactment fair will find that interesting.
My biggest problem is that it's mostly setup for a proposal series, SPOILERS: The hero, a female comic book writer, struggles with her calling as a champion for mankind (in this case, her fellow campers) until almost the end, whan it all get's solved by a duel. It lacked a certain punch, i think.
