How does it work? This Downtown Pet Supply no bark control collar senses your dog's bark. When your dog barks, a burst of pray is emitted. The no bark control collar discriminates each bark from other external noises. A burst of citronella spray is emitted to deter barking only if both the vibration from vocal chords and the sound from the bark match the same criteria. The spray is non-offensive to people and generally effective enough to distract your dog from whatever he is barking at. This is not a shock collar, shock collars use a painful shock to attempt to stop the barking. Using a shock collar is less effective and the pain induced to the dog usually increases anxiety, aggression and often worsens some behavior habits. We do not recommend shock collars. I bought this item for a friend. The bottom line, it works. The reason I only give it four stars is because it took me so long to figure out how to get the spray canister. When I bought it, I not only missed that it comes without the citronella canister, I also missed how you have to buy three canisters to get this brand's canister. I did take a chance and buy another brand's, and I'm happy to report it works.
I tested the color out on my own dog before giving the gift and I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked deterring my dog from barking at our mini pig. When my friend used it on her dog, she reported it works.

I currently have the one pictured and it's pretty good. My dog broke it but that's him. Ordered a new one and they did not send me the one pictured. It's one I previously owned and it's not as good. Also the battery would not stay in place. It's cheaply made.

We could not get this to work at all. Directions are terrible. We even brought in our second-year college engineering grandson to try and help us get this $%^& thing to work; he, too, could not get it to work.

We have a puppy that does "sport-barking" as soon as she goes outside. We do not want to cut out her bark mechanism, but we need to get it under control. Shock collar works properly, but does not stop her.

We're back shopping Amazon for another option!

I had a persafe brand anti bark collar which worked great. My dog likes to bark at 4 or 5 am to be fed. One of our other dogs chewed the cord which had a unique cord rather than a USB. Liked that this one had a USB charger. However on its highest setting he still barks. Useless.

Works well. My foster dog was barking a lot at night in her crate. Now she’s not. I just put this on at bedtime and took it off in the morning. Now I don’t even have to use it anymore.
