I like our h's backstory ... sold by her parents into slavery when only a child. Freed by a benevolent owner to work as a mechanic on the Vorge. Her character is well written and realistic. Timidity, curiosity, a need to please, and a hope for more are all cleverly combined to make her a very likeable h. Dovis, our h, is typical of other crew.... rescued from a bad situation, unable to go home, loyal to the Vorge, and thinking there will never be more for him. The romance between the two is clever and I love that brusque, tough Raff plays a matchmaker role. A very enjoyable read.
I so enjoyed the first story in this series, however the construct of the story with Cathian being in heat meant we didn’t get to see too much of the crew whereas this story not only gives a fantastic romance between Dovis and Mari but we also got to see more of the supporting characters and I loved it! This crew is one that I’m sure I’ll hold close to my heart and I can’t wait for more and as for this book….. Mari was a great character, as a slave that only recently gets her freedom to work on the Vorge so she is adjusting to the world around her and her new found freedom which I found really adorable. Dovis however is a character who is more about anger and as the security officer on the Vorge he has plenty of opportunities to display this anger (hence why they need a new mechanic). As the story progresses however and we get more of an insight into Dovis and his past I just loved him and wanted to hug him! These two are perfect for each other and I so enjoyed their interactions and them coming together finally and Dovis opening up to his friends on the Vorge.
Haha thoroughly enjoyed this book. It had me curious as to how Dovis would end up with someone else - not because of the way he looked but because of his temperament. Mari who is a former ex-slave, hard worker, tiny and totally human. You can't help but admire her character and her ethic. The story had me smiling and enjoying the connection between Dovis and Mari grow. I can't wait to read the next story, I'm sure it will be humorous and full of sexy York.
As I said in the title review this was better than book one but then that wouldn't be hard as it was dreadful and was the first Miss Dohner book I ever gave a one star rating.
This was an average read and I still find it hard to believe the series was written by Miss Dohner as it is way below the standard we usually get from her.
I was going to jump to book four as I liked the character it is based on but having read the reviews for it I think its best avoided as it seems to fall flat like book one. Lauranne Dohner was one of the first sci fi authors I read when a got my kindle a few years ago and I greedly read all her work but somehow that shine has gone and another good author has hit the dust.
I'm So Happy Dovis Found Someone To Except Him For Him. Someone Who Except His Shifter Quality And Not Affaid Of What He Becomes. Someone Who See Passed That And The Gentle Man He Really Is. These Books Had Me Hooked On The First Chapter Of The First Book. What Can You Expect From A Awesome Auther Like This. Her Books Are So Enjoyable To Read Like Your In There With Them . Living Their Lives Like Its Your Own. The Stories Have You Not Wanting To Put The Book Down As You Have To Know What Happens Next. I'm So Addicted To This Author Books. I'm Never Disappointed With Her Works. I Look Forward To Every Book She Has Written. She Is One Of My Favourite Authors.

A good read. The best of this series I've read so far (I've read the first 4 - Cathian, Dovis, York and Raff). The characters are more fleshed out and their motivations more believable.
I woke up at stupid a clock this morning and found Dovis on my kindle and settled in to read. What a great way to start the day on problem is I finished it to soon. Looking forward to the York's book x
