First let me say that I have been A huge Darrien Lee fan since her book 'All That and a Bag of Chips'. She has written 4 other books about these friends and now she has penned 'Double Crossed' which is the 5th and I hope not final book involving these group of friends and family. Nichole Adams is a friend of Meridan and has been involved with police officer Deacon Miles for 2 years. Damon Kilpatrick is a friend of her friends and flies home with her for support because Deacon has been shot in the line of duty. She arrives at the hospital and finds out that the man she loved and had planned to marry already has a wife that he didn't tell her about. She is devastated and Damon remains with her for support. Deacon is obsessed with her even though he plans to divorce his wife and decides if he can't have her then no one will. Lala who is Deacon's wife threatens Nichole but Nichole tells her that she didn't know he was married and is through with him. Deacon follows Nichole, calls her, puts a gps tracker in her vehicle and breaks in her home trying to get her back. He also sets up Damon and tells he her he will only make it go away if she breaks it off with him. As the drama unfolds, Deacon didn't count on his soon to be ex-wife and Nichole and Damon's friends to turn the tables on him for all the damage he has done to the couple. I could not put this book down until I finished it and it was worth it to find out how all this drama ends. Darrien has done it again another great novel and I plan to reread all the other books that lead up to this fantastic story.
All I can say is Wow! This is why she is one of my favorite writers of all time. When she writes, it's very thorough and precise. She leaves nothing out. This was a very strong love story. I wish I could find me a Damon - he is every woman's dream. It was like love at first sight for him and Nicolle (even though Nicolle was in a relationship with someone at the time). I loved the fact that Ms. Lee didn't drag out the chemistry and/or attraction that was between Damon and Nicolle. The way they handled situations that arose with Nicolle's ex, Deacon, was fantastic. I also loved that she brought back characters from the previous books: Craig and Venice, Winston and Arnelle, Keaton and Meridan and let's not forget the alpha male, Joshua. It was like a family reunion so to speak and an excellent book all the way around. I know for a fact after reading this book at least two more books has got to be on the way.
I recommend this book and all her books for your personal reading library. They are off the chain and well worth the money! I have read each one at least three times each! Ms. Lee, you did da damn thang. I look forward to your next book. Just pleeeeease hurry up!
Successful head coach Damon Kilpatrick has been unlucky in love for quite some time and his hopes probably arent as high as they used to be, that is until he meets the lovely Nichole and finds out that true love is really out there for him. The love and the life he aalways wanted is right within his grasp, all he has to do is bypass a psychotic ex boyfriend of Nichole who just cant seem to move on.
I was pleasantly surprised by this book and loved the story line and the fact that Ms. Lee including all of the previous characters from the novels, starting from All That and a bag of Chips
OMG, I FINALLY finished this book. I have read most of Darrien Lee's books but for some reason, this one was hard for me to get into. It dragged on and on and on. It was not able to hold my attention. It just didn't have that umph. I liked the success of the characters and how they all related and got along with each other but the story was just boring to me.
I have read all of Darrien Lee's books, and I have enjoyed every last one of them. I love that all of her stories lead up to a happy ending. This book was good from start to finish. There Wasn't any chapter where I was waiting for it to be over. No boring part to skip over. It is well worth the five stars that I have given it.
