The story was good with great backstories for the main characters. Summers story is incredibly sad and her father played a big part in that.
She was damaged and wanted to hurt herself. I don't think I'm invested enough to continue as it got a little repetitive with regards to Bobby and Carlton but if I was Joseph I would just tell my daughter and explain Carltons game.
Note there is scenes of abuse, violence, rape, suicide, murder, animal cruelty and sexual abuse. Not easy subjects but essential for the story and character development.
This is a beautiful story about two people with difficult pasts trying to cope with their pains in different ways. Yet the present brings them together as they become each other’s support and lifeline. Nobody is perfect, but the couple in this book, Summer and Joseph (Scipio), are truly perfect for each other. The book has a lot of heart; it is painful at times, but you can’t ignore the triumph. I can’t wait to see where their journey takes them in Book 2.
