No mention of feminism and a complete white wash of faces throughout the entire book, until the penultimate page where two black children are amongst a group reading in a library. Dolly Parton is fiercely feminist, and did a lot of work to include everyone regardless of their race or any other factor.
Given the thought that is put into this series in general, I’m frankly astonished and disappointed. I’ve read it once with my daughter this morning as bought it on preorder and I’ll be sending it back this afternoon. Interested to see what Dolly Parton would think of such a bland portrayal, a woman who gets a break from her uncle and wins awards while wearing many wigs. There is so much more to her.

The book was good. I just thought it would be a bit bigger in size.
