Product description

Product Description

Dogs are our friends. Humans have formed great bonds with our canine companions, and our faithful, furry friends cheerfully accept most situations and events that our combined lives encounter. On occasion, however, dogs may experience a fearful reaction, an anxious response or even a full-blown phobia about a particular situation. This behaviour then becomes a problem for owners – and sometimes even for society – to deal with.

This book will help you understand what constitutes an anxiety problem, what the cause of this problem may be and helps you implement solutions to ensure a more calm human and canine life.

A popular speaker and educator, Dr Joanne Righetti insists that no pet problem is too big, too small or too embarrassing to talk about. Even if your pet is already ‘perfect’, Dr Joanne will celebrate the joy, the fun & the love that our pets bring into our lives.

Dr Joanne Righetti is an animal behaviourist whose background is in zoology, with a PhD in animal behaviour and a counselling diploma – qualifications which enable her to work with all sorts of animals – including the human variety.

4.0 out of 5 stars On our way to stress free! 7 November 2012
By KylieS - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
I read Dog Anxiety Problems Solved with a vested interest. I have a nervy young greyhound who has caused us some issues with her anxiety while being out on walks. So, although I already knew we had an anxiety problem, I didn't really know how to go about dealing with it. It also clarified for me why she was feeling anxious.
Dr Jo's book is very well written with a clear process for determining whether your dog has an anxiety issue, and then if you determine it has, some clearly laid out practical alternatives for dealing with it, depending on the nature of the anxiety.
We will certainly be putting into place some socialisation and desensitisation plans. They are practical and sensible, therefore making them appealing to a wide range of dog lovers who are committed to helping their dog to feel less stressed and enjoy being a dog.

Dr Righetti gives a wonderful summary on the causes of anxiety and fears in dogs. All of the areas of treatment for these conditions are covered from behaviour modification, environmental changes and well as medications and pheromones are discussed. An excellent book for anyone wanting to learn more about anxiety in dogs and how to treat it.
