Product Description

Feeling dead in her marriage, Elizabeth Fairchild ditches the dream of her seemingly perfect life with her husband in search of who she really is.

She went from her parents' house to her husband's home and never really learned to stand on her own two feet. She decides to leave her comfortable life in Napa Valley in search of her inner fire in New York City. She certainly didn't leave her husband to find another man, but she soon finds herself involved with two: Jack Stevens and Kevin Parker.

Jack is older. He has heart-stopping good looks, is wildly successful, and is very much in control of everything around him - especially Elizabeth.
Kevin is younger. He is carefree with a heart of gold and loves Elizabeth's spunk.

While Elizabeth's old life still calls to her, she also finds what she needs in New York. But which dream will she choose?

WARNING: EROTIC ROMANCE. This book contains subject material of an adult nature intended for readers over the age of 18. In these pages you will find cheating (although she has a "hall pass"), graphic language and sexual encounters including BDSM and sex with multiple partners. You’ve been warned. Happy reading!

As a maturer reader (early 40s) let me just say that it was a breath of fresh air to be reading about a woman my own age for once, and not some college 'kid'. That in itself was almost enough to give it five stars hehehe
When i read the synopsis of the book i was really intrigued by the topic of being in an unfulfilled marriage and the quest Elizabeth embarks upon to find herself again. I'm sure there are a lot of women out there with either identical or very similar stories that can relate very strongly to this scenario, and i think this book did a terrific job of discussing it from various angles and nailing the right sentiments. Well done!
It was also wonderful to have the luxury of not one, but two, breathtaking, panty-popping men to admire throughout the book. Talk about spoilt!

Regardless of which 'team' you were on.....Team Kevin or Team Jack.....i think they both had their own unique qualities, and i didn not envy Elizabeth for having to make a choice. In the end, i am inclined to agree with who she seemed the most beneficial and 'right' one for he.
Speaking of fellas......that husband was really a catch huh?!! Sorry buddy, but you got what you deserved. Value your woman, don't take her for granted.
Wonderful writing, excellent exploration of the emotions and experiences between the characters and their individual situations....can't wait to read the next book to see what happens!

Oh.....yes....i agree that there are some parallels between this book and Fifty Shades, but i have to say, this is soooo much better. At least for me. Beth and Jack are older and wiser, he is not some f*cked up, bratty control freak, and she is not some naive, virginal and impressionable young girl. Even the whole bondage, D/s material is much more 'realistic' and truer than it's comparison.

I have mixed feelings on the book being in a similar situation & age bracket. My thoughts would be to avoid men completely but hey this is a book & whether there's any reality in this scenario who knows?
It could happen to You!
Loved Beth, Jack drool, I'm not into younger guys so bad luck Kevin. Hubby I know one like it.
You could say it's a mature FSOG but Jack definitely wasn't f'd up & knew what he wanted. So there's a difference.
Perhaps I'm not saying anything other than my thoughts rather than reviewing this book but it is a good read & I would recommend it, esp for the more mature readers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Married with children? This is for you! 24 October 2013

This is an amazing read - the story of a woman, Elizabeth, who married right out of college and gave everything to her family. Now that her children are all out of the house, she finds that she has lost herself somewhere along the way. Her incredible journey to find inner strength and find herself was the focus of this book. The story is hot and steamy - that makes it a fun read, but what is more intense is her self reflection and growth. "The grass is always greener where you water it" has stuck with me since finishing the book. What she was feeling really hit home for me and I hope that I can learn and grow from her experiences. If you have been married a while and wonder what is out there, this book will cause you pause. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Carpe Diem-And Elizabeth does!!!! 26 October 2013

A very well written book that is refreshing and has great detail. A fresh look at a 40-something woman that finds her sexual pleasure, instead of the 20-something woman that we've been give. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed those too, but given that there are a good handful of us in the higher age group it is refreshing.

Needing to go find herself, Elizabeth leaves life as she knows it to the other side of the country. To avoid guilt of leaving Elizabeth avoids calls from her husband and her very displeased mother.

Elizabeth learns that she has some strong allies in her decision and feeds off of that. Giving herself a new look and discovering what she's been missing in life, including inside the bedroom. She makes some hard decisions while on her adventure, but they pay off in the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ditch your day to read Ditching the Dream...totally worth it!!! 13 October 2013

I was provided at ARC copy of Ditching the Dream from the author in exchange for an honest review…

Honestly, I really don’t know how to begin. My first response to Isabelle was, "I'm done and I am so broken...I'm crushed...and need more. I connected with this book on so many levels it frightens me! I want to go curl up in the shower and cry."

This book surprised me and totally rocked my world. I was not prepared for my intense connection to Elizabeth and how I felt every emotion of her character. I’m still in a daze. The writing was phenomenal and brilliant.

Elizabeth is a dedicated wife and mother coming to the realization that she doesn’t know who she once her children have grown and moved out. She finds herself feeling empty…just like the beautiful house she lives in. Greg, her husband, is a successful businessman whose marriage to his job is a higher priority than the 20+ year marriage to his wife.

Elizabeth for the first time in her life is breaking free and searching for who she is. Leaving a “Dear John” note for Greg and packing her bags for New York is a pretty big step to take! With an inheritance to help her get settled, she knows she still needs to find a job in the quest to make something of herself. Luck happens to be on her side and she is able to secure a job quickly and moves into the perfect little furnished apartment to call home...for now. Little does she know that between her new job and new home…temptation is unavoidable and she is about to embark on journey she never intended to take!

Kevin, a young Spanish teacher, is her scrumptious neighbor in the building who seems to be around every corner and it is not by coincidence. Jack, is a well-established businessman who is older than Elizabeth and is instantly attracted to her and is determined to figure out why she seems so familiar to him. Both men are battling for a chance with Elizabeth when her plan was NOT to find another man…but to find herself.

Elizabeth quickly learns that sometimes you find yourself through others and what she finds is not at all what she expected! Be prepared for some amazing and off the charts experiences with Kevin and Jack…wow! These two are delicious!!!

I completely connected with this book and Isabelle blew me away! It was a fun, loving, intense and heart wrenching read. I definitely enjoyed the several new cocktails that I have added to my drink list courtesy of Elizabeth’s fine bartending skills. I was overcome with the emotions that wove throughout the story. I smiled, laughed, cried and cursed. This was a book that will absorb you and it isn’t one that you can put down. It will consume your every thought and emotion and it will leave you wanting more.

I don’t know how to address the ending. Is it a HEA? Honestly, that depends on how you look at it. It truly is a journey!!

There is more to this story and I for one cannot wait for the rest! Isabelle’s debut book has totally made it to the top of my list of favorites; it has left an imprint on my heart and soul. I am still processing the story and I think I always will…it will forever live in my mind!

2.0 out of 5 stars Starts great, then goes off track 27 March 2016

I will give the author credit for writing a story that is a little different from the norm, but some of the plot twists were just unbelievable and many of the details were annoying. For example, the two men Elizabeth begins relationships with are both so blown away by her very presence; that's just a little hard to believe. I got tired of the angst surrounding her thought process where she was worried about how she was screwing up her life by being involved with both men.

The one dimensional aspect of her husband was a little tiresome, too. When she did have conversations with him, he was only worried about how her absence was affecting HIM. Okay, I can buy that; after all, that's the reason she left him. However, it made absolutely NO sense that she left Jack to return to her husband. Also, the scene where she went back to her husband's hotel room was just so unrealistic and awkward.

Overall, I really liked the premise of the book and how it started, but it nose-dived and I started skimming towards the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent read 18 October 2013

How great to read a book that involved a forty-two year old woman who has come to a cross-road in her life. Leaving her husband of twenty-three years to try to find herself after a life of looking after her children and husband and finally realising that she no longer knew who she was. A very brave thing to do. After arriving in New York City, finding a job and place to live, Elizabeth meets the gorgeous young Kevin and older sexy Jack, two very different men. The relationships Elizabeth forms between these two guys is steamy and full on. After about three weeks Elizabeth finds herself questioning whether she has done the right thing by leaving her husband Greg and finally makes her decision on where she should be based on guilt. This was a great read and I am looking forward to reading Jack's POV in the next book and maybe finding out whether Elizabeth changes her mind about her decision. Recommend it to all.
