This book confused me...
At some points I felt so much love for these characters and sorrow for how they must be feeling in regards to Ian’s death. Then at other times couldn't understand how this relationship could survive when in the beginning it’s based on grief and pain.

The idea of sharing a bed with my mother in-law leaves me a bit uneasy but alias this is probably more about our relationship… It’s not one based on friendship.

All this said if you strip away all the ‘Taboo’ issues is it not just about love? Because really sometimes you can’t choose whom you fall for…

By the end of the novel I had thoroughly enjoyed the it, which surprised me, as I was worried I wouldn’t enjoy this one.

4.5 Stars! Will be rereading again.

I refer to a quote by Jodi Picoult (Author of ‘My Sisters Keeper’)

‘The bottom line is that we never fall for the person we’re supposed to’

I thought a book about two women suffering the loss of a lover and son would be heart breaking. However once again Harper Bliss has managed to write an uplifting story of unexpected love. This could have been a relationship that left you feeling a little weird but instead it fills you with hope that love can be found if you open yourself up to it.
Another Blissful story from Ms Bliss.

I think book is Harper Bliss' best yet. Yes it might be a subject that some might find strange but the way it has been written make the whole story plausible. I thought there was a lot of depth to the characters. Yes Harper has out done herself with this one. Do yourselves a favour and read this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars delicate handling... unlikely pairing... fateful love 13 September 2016

Harper is an amazing writer further proven by this novel. She handles a delicate situation... one expectedly mournful and transforms the lives and hearts of the main characters, Sophie & Dolores. This unlikely pairing evolves realistically and ultimately, leaving the reader thoroughly understanding how the non-biological mom of her passing son and his widowed girlfriend can fall in love with each other. Sophie intricately captures the process through deeply personal letters written to her dead boyfriend, Ian. At its conclusion, the reader wants Sophie & Dolores to embrace the inevitable -- their true, fateful love. well done

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful and deeply moving romance novel! 10 September 2016

In the Distance there is Light by Harper Bliss is a wonderful emotion filled novel. Ms. Bliss takes us, yet again, on such an emotional and deeply moving journey.

The author ones more broadened my mind especially because the topic is unusual or maybe even a bit controversial for some. I found it a truly engaging story and I was very intrigued by the way the story unfolded for the two protagonists Sophie and Dolores. I could feel their deep love and passion and commitment to each other leap off the page. It’s a journey filled with courage to happily ever after, stories that Harper writes so well.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book to everyone who loves love even in the direst of circumstances.

5.0 out of 5 stars Romantic, emotional, hopeful… Intense! 21 September 2016

Where can you go, when everything you know is suddenly ripped from your life, and all you have left are the pieces of your broken-self? This is a love story from beginning to end, but it is also a story of loss and hope.

Sophie has lost the man that changed her life. Now, her grief is limiting her ability to live. She tried to find shelter with her best friend, but realizes that there is only one person who might understand her struggle and could help her find her way back. After all, Dolores, Ian stepmom, had experience putting herself back together.

While dealing with their grief, Sophie by writing letter to Ian and Dolores by concentrating her energy at work, they will learn to care for each other. Their togetherness will grow, opening unexpected doors for them.

Another Harper Bliss emotional story full of hope and romance; emotions that evolved out of shared comfort. While the time could be considered a bit too short for Dolores and Sophie’s story to develop, the story itself is well written, presenting elements that will touch the readers deeply. A must read.

5.0 out of 5 stars In the Distance... 22 September 2016

This is the best offering yet from Harper. As one who is in an age–divergent relationship, I can really relate to both characters, but the spectre of coming together because of a shared love of someone who had passed away made this a perfect book for me. I ran the total gamut of emotions in this book, from laughing out loud to totally dissolving in tears. Thank you, Harper for using good grammar, syntax, punctuation and capitalization. Your books are a pleasure to read. Annika Jan DeJaegher
5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, Poignant and Realistic! 14 October 2016

Not just a significant age difference but all the insecurities that come with it. Sexuality is on a continuum and many bi-sexual and pan-sexual women often say it is not that they fall for guy or girl but the person. Read this with an open mind and you will find one of the more realistic pieces of fiction I've read in a long time
