“I will always be with you…”

Rising Democratic star Caroline Gerard hasn’t had an easy year. After losing her husband, she is raising two small children alone while trying to navigate the tricky and sometimes shallow halls on Capitol Hill. A string of nasty speeches has her scrambling to apologize to any number of candidates, including newly elected Republican Jack McIntyre. Falling in love again is the last thing on her mind.

Jack McIntyre might have a reputation as a playboy, but he has his sights set solely on his new colleague. Can he break through Caroline’s grief and capture her heart?

Told mostly in flashback and set against a chilling fascist backdrop, Dissident is a rollercoaster ride of political intrigue, passionate contemporary romance, and undying love.

For readers 18+. Ends on a cliffhanger.

I received free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

This story commenced with Caroline and Jack running for their lives and I was instantly pulled in. Life in America is changing dramatically under President Santos (is our author a West Wing fan?) and California has broken away from the USA.

Soon after beginning the story takes us back 5 years to when Caroline meets Jack. I was initially annoyed with this. I wanted to know what was going on now. Ultimately the story switches between the past where we experience Caroline and Jack falling in love and the present where Caroline is unconscious and the doctors trying to keep her out of the hands of the military.

The romance between Caroline and Jack is wonderful and a great example of a slowly built relationship. The author shows us so much of them and their lives and insecurities. Lots of fabulous, honest conversations. I loved reading about a mature relationship, characters with intelligence, lives and baggage.

The mix of political drama, danger and romance is perfect and I eagerly await the next instalment of The Bellator Saga so I can find out what is going to happen next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, genre crossing book 21 March 2015

This is a well crafted, genre crossing book. It has political, erotic, and dystopian themes. I've read a lot of dystopian books lately and the protagonists are usually adolescents. I really liked that in this book the main characters are adults. The book is well written, moving smoothly between past and the (near) future where the American government appears to be crumbling. I look forward to reading the next book in the series and especially want to know more about the new American society .

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Fantastic & Intriguing Read 19 March 2015
By Elizabeth Clinton - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
This book was recommended to me by another author who highly praised it and all I can say she was 100% correct. This was Simply an Incredible Read. Cecilia London takes you on the roller coaster ride of your life. It is filled with twists and turns and ups and downs and a ride that truthfully you don't want to get off because it is that thrilling.
There is a lot of different emotions in this book that I can say we're amazing. I cried right from the prologue and many more times throughout the book. It takes you from the past to the present with such ease that you can't wait to turn the page to see what happens next.
We meet Caroline a rising start in the Democratic Party a Congreswoman who unfortunately life throws a heartbreaking curve at with two small children she is looking to move ahead with her life and just get on with life with good friends she seems to be doing just fine.
When we meet Jack a up and coming Congressman who by all means is a "Playboy Millionaire" he crosses paths with Caroline at a party after some words where said about him on the campaign trail that were not so gracious and he doesn't find her to be very sincere in her apology and doesn't even want to accept it. But when the two get to talking long into the night a friendship is formed.
Even as different as the two of them are politically we start to see feeling develop more than friendship, you are cheering them on throughout hoping To see Caroline heal by the affection and love Jack shows her and you see that looks can be deceving when it comes to Jack.
As we come into the present we see that the government is falling apart at the seams and the laws don't really mean a thing basically it's everyman for themselves, but what does Jack and Caroline know in the present that has to be the question?
This is only part one of a fantastic new series and when you put down the book after you read the words The End all you will be saying is give me Part Two Now! If you love books that deal with Intrigue, Romance and everything in between don't miss this one you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Political mayhem, heroes and monsters, lovers and fighters 5 gold stars 19 July 2015

Wow. I read the blurb and I can honestly say that it does NOT do justice to the story. It is soooo much more than Caroline’s unconscious recovery in a VA hospital.

The story starts off on the night it all went to hell. Two people are running for their lives. At the time, I didn’t know them but I felt the fear, the adrenaline rush through my blood, I felt the pain, the agony course through my body. When they stopped and did what they had to do, my heart was ripped into pieces. I felt silent tears falling only to fade away after sometime. The prologue was brutal and heart-wrenchingly breathtaking.

To say I am enamored with Cecilia’s writing would be an understatement. I’ve always been a sucker for romance and suspense and this one had both in spades. After the heart in your throat start, we flashback to five years ago when we meet the Caroline and Jack. They did not have a great beginning. When they first meet Caroline is recovering from a great loss and in her struggle does to survive the loss, she makes an ass of herself. Being the person that she is, she endeavors to silently mend what she has broken without of course Jack knowing. I did cringe at the conversation between them and I could not blame Jack at all. Sigh. Jack! What can I say about him, do you know the proverb still water runs deep, I think it was made for Jack. That man is not what he seems at all. Yes he was a douche before but there were reasons. While their friendship blossoms, he struggles to accept his past so that he can forge his future.

While this is happening, I timehop to the present time with my heart trying to attempt to make an escape from my body. The brutal truth of the current situation, the insanity of it all, makes me wanna hug my teddy and think of rainbows and care bears. I want my flashback, I don’t like the current world. Sigh. Alas I had to put my big girl undies and fight the cringe-worthy viciousness. I felt my heart break, my body spasm. The patient being kept safe in the hospital has been through so much. How she survived what she did was beyond comprehension? The world is indeed full of crazy monsters who would stop at nothing to gain more power and money.

Off to my happy flashback moments, the loved who Caroline is as a person. She’s isn’t your typical person of power. And if you knew me you would know how much I totally hate the subject but Cecilia made me love the whole topic. There’s goodness out there, it’s not really all about domination. I loved Mo and Feef, their interaction with Caroline, Bob and Chrissy, the staffs who work for Caro and Jack. To say he’s swoon-worthy would be an understatement. A lot of people doubts his sincerity and I don’t blame them considering his past and the thing he does unknowingly being the villain in his own happy ever after. He’s suave, he’s sexy and he’s damn hot for Caro, what more does a girl want but a man who is totally and irrevocably into her. But Caro is scared of a happy future because of what she’s lost in the past. Would she believe Jack when he says he wants a future with her? Or will Jack unknowingly destroy their happiness? Or will the powers that be who think they can oppress, destroy good people so that they can rule the world?

I really did not expect to be swept away in the tide of romance and intrigue as much as I did. And I cannot wait to dive into book 2 when it is out. This was brutal yet charming, sweet yet sinister in its content. Wanna know more about Caro and Jack, all you have to do is 1-click it to find out.

Conscience here is come for you, book 2 in the series that is the Bellator Saga.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweeping match 25 March 2015

The prologue of this book draws you into the story. You meet Jack and Caroline who are trying to make it to Canada. But why? What has happened that they are running?

My Jack -

Jack and Caroline work in DC, she is liberal and he is a Republican trying to change the world. Caroline makes a harsh criticism against Jack and immediately regrets it. After a party, an explination, and a bottle of wine, they become fast friends. Friends usually leads to more and the story between Jack and Caroline is no different. You read the memories of how they met, laced with flashes of the future and Caroline in the hospital recovering.

My Caroline -

The love between Jack and Caroline is amazing and surreal. They match like peanut butter and jelly or peanut butter and chocolate. They have a nice mix. Caroline keeps Jack on his toes with her wit and intelligence. Jack is a Casanova, with roguish good looks and money to back him up. They are a perfect match, but when a future prospect comes into focus could this be enough to untangle them?

This is a well written book. I had a hard time putting it down, because I loved how Jack and Caroline interacted. The sex was good too. Caroline wasn’t a prude and she wasn’t afraid to admit it to Jack – bravo!! I’m anxious to read book #2, I want to know more. Why were they on the run? What happened to America?

5.0 out of 5 stars Such a wonderful beginning of a series!! 6 July 2015

Jack and Caoline are on the run in a snow storm, trying to stay one step ahead of the soldiers who ran them off the road. They are protecting a flash drive , and as they make their way along their journey there are flashbacks , and little tidbits that clue us in to what they are protecting., and who is waiting for them on the other end.
Caroline, a young widow with two young daughters, and Jack a millionaire with political ties, are brought together in a time of political turmoil, where states are breaking off from the union, and no one in any form of political position of power can be trusted. As Caroline lies in conscious in a medical facility , with the medical personnel attempting to keep her in a medically induced coma to protect her from the torture and trial for treason that awaits her.
So, how did these two characters meet and uncover a web of lies in the government and military? All of this is superbly explained with great character details, and a very realistic tale of the relationship between two unlikely allies in a time of political unrest. And while there is a good amount of detail surrounding the character development , the passages flow naturally , allowing the reader to stay engaged in the story that is unfolding.
Romantic elements are interwoven into the plot, without being contrived. This story lays out a foundation that is sure to be an engaging series, and I can't wait for the next installment! I thouroughly enjoyed the story , and highly recommend it to any reader with a varied preference in genres. There are elements of romance, and suspense with a futuristic backdrop, and sexy love scenes . The writing is witty and sassy , with a compelling plot that leaves plenty of room for more! Kudos to the author for an excellent start to the series!
