"Melissa Foster is synonymous with sexy, swoony, heartfelt romance!" -NYT Bestseller Lauren Blakely

After the death of her parents on the day of her college graduation, Delilah Armstrong thought she could finally follow her heart and come out to her closest friends, but the guilt of going against her parents' beliefs haunts her. The feelings she has for her best friend, Ashley, are stronger than anything she's felt before, but Delilah has never even kissed a girl, and fear stops her at every turn.

Ashley Carver promised herself that she would never again date another girl who wasn't out, but that was before she met intoxicatingly sweet and sexy Delilah.

When another girl offers to teach Delilah the ropes, it changes Delilah's whole world and gives her the courage to go after the only girl she really wants. But coming out isn't as easy as Delilah imagined, and moving past her parents' death and the feelings of guilt she is left with is even harder. The intense passion between Ashley and Delilah is too strong to deny, but coming together means risking everything.

Discovering Delilah is an edgy, evocative, romantic story of friendship, family, and the courage to love.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

This is a good story of two young adults coming together. Delilah is in the closest and getting over the death of her parents while Ashley is out and is getting over a bad relationship. While they want to be together they both have baggage that causes problems.

The story explores her parents apparent disapproval of the fact that she is a lesbian and why they might have thought that way. I thought this was well done and I like the way the story dealt with Delilah's guilt over her parents death and her sexualality.

Discovering Delilah is a lovely f/f romance. I really felt the connection between Ash and Dee as both friends and lovers. The scenes where they come together physically melted more than my heart. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

I love this series and am so happy it just keeps going. This story deals a lot with guilt and grief and how when losing your parents when you are young can alter your perception of yourself and make you question who your parents were and why they thought the way they did. Personally having lost a parent at a young age I found I needed the tissues handy near the end. Also can't wait for the day the everybody believes that loving someone of the same sex is not wrong.

4.0 out of 5 stars and while I thought the story was sweet, it felt a bit lacking 13 May 2017

This was my first F/F story to read, and while I thought the story was sweet, it felt a bit lacking. Perhaps I should I have read book one, but this was a standalone.

The characters were pretty well developed, and the chemistry between our leading ladies was certainly felt. I also felt the storyline of the deceased parents leaving Delilah full of guilt of her lifestyle was realistic. Many times, there is a struggle when revealing a sexuality other than hetero, and it is not always well received. This creates a relatability to the story that I enjoyed.

I think what is really hoped for was something a bit hotter, but sweet is great sometimes too. This was also my first introduction to Melissa Foster's writing.

I'd give it 4 stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another winner for Melissa…a fantastic love story! 18 July 2015

I first knew Melissa from the WLC a few years ago. She encouraged me to pursue my writing. I am currently writing an erotic novel that includes two college ladies who discover their love for each other quite by accident. My wife suggested that I read Melissa’s “Discovering Delilah”. I purchased it yesterday and finished it early this morning. I loved it. It is fantastic! There is an appropriate amount of lovemaking for the story to be authentic, but not objectionable to most readers. Melissa skillfully describes Delilah and Ashley’s feelings and what they think as they pursue their love for each other.

Delilah and Ashley had become best friends, and both are so attracted to each other they are about to burst with love and desire. The biggest challenge is that neither knows if the other feels the same. They value their friendship too much to actually make a move. They are dying inside to be in each other’s arms, kissing and making love to each other.

Delilah does not even know if her feelings are real or just in her head. She dated a couple of guys in college, but found the experiences to be rather disgusting. Delilah has never even kissed a girl. Delilah’s parents were killed on the way home from her college graduation. Just before she walked to get her diploma she told them she liked women. The shocked expression on their faces meant to her that these very conservative parents were disgusted with her. A few hours later her parents were dead.

She feels guilty that somehow their deaths are her fault as they had preached to her how wrong same sex love is. She had hidden her feelings since she was an early teen. Every time she thinks of stepping out, she fears their disapproval, disgust and her guilt lurking over her like a exploding thunder cloud.

She attends a grief support group dealing with her parents’ death. One of the ladies there sees inside her dilemma and offers to teach her some of the basics of female lovemaking—for one night only. They don’t do anything too intimate, but Delilah KNOWS for sure now that her feelings are legitimate. She decides that she is going to take the step and tell Ashley how she feels and hope that Ashley reciprocates.

Finally the next night she gets up the courage to tell Ashley of her feelings and hopes that she has been reading the signs that Ashley feels the same. They end up in a dark alley and their love explodes all over the place. No spoilers, but the scene is earth shattering to both of them. These women are falling deeply in love with each other. The big hurdle is that Delilah has a tremendous challenge showing her feelings for Ashley in public. Ashley has sworn (because of a past disastrous relationship) to never be with anyone who will not publicly acknowledge them as a couple. Until she meets Delilah, that is. Delilah is worth it, but both struggle with Delilah’s fears and guilt.

No spoilers. Will Delilah overcome her anger, fear and guilt to publicly embrace Ashley, or will she be unable to overcome her past? I will just say that the ending has a brilliantly wonderful twist that I never even suspected. In one day EVERYTHING changes for ever.

I highly recommend this to lovers of romance, and especially to women who may be struggling with the same issues. True love between two women is a beautiful thing. Don’t miss this great story!

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautifully well written F/F romance 15 July 2015

A beautiful, well written F/F romance

This is the second book in Harborside Nights series which is a new series by Melissa Foster. Like her other books, it's a book about close not families and great friends but unlike her other books, this one is a F/F about first time love and coming out. It's beautifully written and I loved every minute of it.

Delilah Armstrong knew that she liked girls since she was fifteen years old but she hid it from everyone except her twin brother and their best friend. Her parents had strong beliefs and were very liberal so she knew that they wouldn't take it well but on the day that she, her brother and their best friend graduated from college, she told them, they died in an accident just a few hours later. Delilah's now living with the thoughts that she may have had something to do with it. What if they were arguing about her and weren't paying attention? What if she was the reason that they died? So instead of coming out to her friends like she had planned, she's hiding once again only now she is hiding in Harborside while she and her brother try to piece together their lives, manage two homes and a business all while trying to come to grips with their loss. Wyatt is managing much better than she is but Ashley helps. Ashley is new in Harborside and makes her feels things that she's never thought possible but she has no idea if Ashley is straight and she's afraid to ask. Afraid that it will ruin the one thing that she looks forward to every day, spending time with Ashley.

Ashley Carver promised herself that she would never date another girl that wasn't out. After being the dirty little secret to her last girlfriend she told herself that she would never put herself in that type of position again. She fell for Delilah the very first time she saw her but didn’t' know where she stood sexually, but also knowing that if she was a lesbian, she was definitely not out. So instead of doing anything she was happy to remain friends no matter how hard it was to be close to her because being with Delilah was always better than being without her.

This a well written edgy, provocative, female/female story about friendship, finding your way, and first loves. If these types of stories bother you, than I suggest that you just don't read it but if they don't then I will tell you that it's fantastic and you will love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars You wont be disappointed! 17 July 2015

I'll be honest - I wasn't sure how I'd like this as it is F/Fl & I don't read those types of books, but I LOVE LOVE this author so I didn't hesitate to pre-order the book the 1st chance I got. Nothing personal, I support everyone loving who they want as long as no one gets hurt and as a society, we are becoming more accepting of others but at same time, I was hesitant as I wasn't sure if I'd feel uncomfortable or not. But I forgot just who the author was as the love scenes were done tastefully and were what I'd imagine a real person going through. For me at least, the going back and forth of who was the narrator, was confusing at times and had to go back a page or two to remember, oh, It's Ashley not Delilah... Though, I did like getting a glimpse of each girls personality, why they are the way they are, their experiences, etc. The feelings Delilah has over coming out and how her parents reacted & the fact that they passed away before anything between them could be resolved, really affected her & was believable and real to me. I love how Wyatt is overprotective - very endearing! And Brandon in this book just made me fall in love with him (won't give it away!). Over all, this is a great series & love the diversity of the characters! My only question is - when's the next one coming out?

5.0 out of 5 stars Illuminating and Heartwrenching. 24 July 2015

I have read everyone of Melissa Foster's book and this one is just as great as the first that hooked me on her series. The Harborside Nights series is a much younger group of friends than the family series but I find that she relates with several serious situations that face people living today. This book handles bisexuality, lesbian, and gay relationships as well as the issues with trust in a relationships.

The acceptance in this book is a little misleading but I think it puts you into the world that we all wish it could be accepted to be outside what the older generations consider the "norm". I believe this story encompasses the grief of losing someone so important to you as your parents, finding yourself, and growing up at the same time. These problems aren't always faced by new adults and it can be a difficult transition. Melissa is not afraid to move into heart wrenching topics and the way she works them can help others learn as well.

I won't give any synopsis or anything because I believe that the whole book is worth reading, cover to cover, or if you are like me kindle page to kindle page. You have to read it through because this is not your ordinary story.
