When I took it to the jeweler to get some links removed, the jeweler remarked how beautiful the watch is. The glass has an amazing multi-color appearance, and changes as light hits it from different directions. I'm 5’11’’ and 220 lbs. Hopefully that helps you with sizing the watch. I had three links removed and it is still very loose on my wrist.
It is as heavy as it is attractive too! You won’t forget you are wearing it. It is also very large. Since that is the current trend anyway, that is ok with me. I like it.
Let’s get this out of the way...this is not really a smart watch. Granted, they call it a "hybrid smartwatch," but still...In 2018, I expect more if "smartwatch" is in the product name. You can configure it to vibrate when you get a notification, but only from a select few contacts...6 contacts to be exact. The watch hands re-position themselves to the numbers (1 through 6) that correspond to the contact that has just sent you a message. You can only read the message on another device, since this “hybrid smartwatch” has no screen. You can also configure apps to notify you in the same way.
Initially, I asked my wife to text me after I configured #1 to represent her, and nothing happened when she texted me. Then I added my sms app in the Deisel app configuration, and asked her to do it again. That time, the watch vibrated and the hands moved to notify me of a notification. I am puzzled why it did not work when I had her setup without having the sms app setup.
You can also configure the three buttons on the side of the watch to do specific things, like take a selfie, cycle through modes, and control your music. To take a selfie, the camera app has to be open already, and to control music, your default music app has to be open and playing music.
It doubles as a fitness tracker and sleep tracker as well, but wearing to to bed is uncomfortable.
I did not have to set the date and time. I am assuming the app setup on my phone did it for me over Bluetooth. I should also mention that the app is required to setup the watch and you must register an account to do so.
Mine arrived with the battery half dead, so I ordered additional batteries.
Overall, I would have called this a “smartwatch” if it came out in 2013. In 2018, it is limited in functionality when compared to real smartwatches of today. This is essentially a fitness tracker in the body of a beautiful watch.
The batteries should be rechargeable via USB, making buying and replacing batteries unnecessary. As it stands, you will replace batteries fairly often if you use the "smart" features of the watch.
The watch really shouldn't be called a "smart" watch, as it is extremely limited in function. I feel like the watch should have been sold simply as a large, nice-looking watch. How smart is a watch that doesn't really provide any useful information. If you have this connected to your phone, you have to have your phone with you in order for it to communicate, and the phone actually displays information.
Stick with a Samsung or Apple watch if you want a smart watch.
The smartwatch functionality is very limited. There’s no digital display, so it just does things like vibrate when you get messages. It has fitness tracking functions but it’s so heavy you’re not going to wear it all the time and certainly not when your exercising. But as a regular watch I give it high marks for attractiveness.
It comes in a nice box suitable for gift giving.
