4.0 out of 5 stars 3.5 Rating a pretty good book 26 March 2012

Our heroine in this book is Calli. A normal teenage girl so she thought. Never popular in school she only had one true friend Sue, but that is all about to change at a track meet where she was enchanted. That track meet changed everything in her life for a short while. During the track meet she was discovered and believed to be a superhuman one with exceptional speed. And was whisked away to become a runner for the Runner Clan.

This is the first book in the Unaltered Series. It is unique in many ways. I enjoyed this read. Lorena has wonderful world building skills. The characters are awesome and flawed in there own little way which makes for a good read. Calli is a heroine with mixed emotions throughout the whole book. Who manages to make a enemy real fast but also manages to make a few friends also. Calli is thrown into a world of super-humans in which she would have never imaged to exist. She is set on a journey where she later learns that she was especially selected to be on. On this journey she faces many dilemmas and emotions that she never expected to have. Being an unaltered human she developes special skills. With the help of a diamond that posesses the skills of all the super-humans. She and a few others from the Runners Clan a part of the Super-humans are to deliver this diamond to the Death Clan in return for the hostages the Death Clan have taken. Little do the Death Clan know that once they come in contact with this diamond that it will be the death of them.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good overall! Better if proofed! 15 August 2011

I found this book to be so interesting that I couldn't put it down! I read it straight through in a matter of five hours! I haven't read anything like this and I've read thousands of books! I have one suggestion: if you had this proofread, find someone else to do it after them. The first few mistakes are easy to overlook, but it becomes annoying after the first ten. I would be more than happy to assist you for the mere pleasure of reading another of your wonderful stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars What if........? 8 July 2015

What if you could know the future? What if you did not like what you saw? Would you try to change it so it would come out the way you wanted? What if it was meant to be? This book delves into a lot of these questions and many others that you have probably thought about some time in your life. Such as what I would do if I had some form of super power. This book is very well written and was so enjoyable to read. Hated turning off the kindle to see the dr. Could not wait to get back to reading and seeing what was going to happen next. I highly recommend the book. This is the first in the series and look forward to eventually reading more from this author.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book on the Metaphysical, bordering on reality as we know it. 3 December 2013

I am attracted and intrigued by metaphysics. Lorena managed to create an interesting mystery, adventurous story weaving all the elements of metaphysical properties that the general populace are becoming more accustomed to reading/hearing about. Who knows, maybe these people already exist and Lorena was "channeled" this story to get mankind used to it, so when it becomes public, there will be less fear of that which is not known about.

Thank you Lorena, looking forward to reading the remaining series.
4.0 out of 5 stars I CHEERED 28 October 2015

I would have been happy to give A Diamond in My Pocket a five star review, because even for a YA novel it had its fair share of serious attempts at creating suspenseful and dramatic scenes, which more often than not made good the promise of strong plot developments in later chapters. The novel's beginning was an auspicious one, with the stage capably set at the start for the threads of a potentially good plot to weave themselves together. This they did, as the ambitiously told story did its best to hold together through the somewhat declamatory middle sections and reach the finish line somewhat out of breath but otherwise successfully. No doubt I enjoyed the story because I found myself cheering at the end, as I'm sure others who have read the novel have also done.
