Product Description

She succeeded in making him feel like a man. A normal functioning man when he hadn’t felt that way in years.

"Who're you f*cking?"

When my father, manager of the worldwide phenomenon Kinky Shine, asked me to come and help the band members appear more approachable I never thought my first meeting with Dex Bowers would start with such a question.

Immediately, I wanted to strangle him, wipe the smirk off his face and force him to mutter more than three words.

But there's something mysterious about him that was electrifying and the more he pushed me away and angered me, the more I wanted to know him and push through his hangups.

"Trust. That f*cking trust thing didn't come easily to me."

In the five years since my band became famous, not once had I been photographed with a woman. I knew it fed the supposed mystery surrounding me, but the real truth was far more humiliating than I was comfortable with.

That was until Harley Floyd walked in and I was left with a mind numbing lust for her that scared me shitless. It should be easy to let go and trust her just enough to have fun, to be happy I could finally come up with new material for our next album. But nothing was easy and with a life made of sex, drugs, and rock n' roll I wasn't sure if anything could last. Not even my band.

"What twenty-five year old was f*cking lost when his cock was rock hard when close to a gorgeous woman? One answer to that; a man who hadn’t had sex in a really long time."

**For readers over 18 only.**
This is a full-length novel. It can be read as a standalone.

Read on behalf of A Book Lovers Emporium Blog.
How refreshing to meet Dex. He is a different kind of frontman to band called Kinky Shine. Not your 'normal', womanising egocentric idiot. He's a grumpy bloke who grunts or gives one word responses. He is hard work to get a decent answer from at times. Which makes it difficult to help him interact with fans by Tweeting. Apparently this makes him mysterious.
At Dex and Harley's first meeting I would have liked to kick him off of his high horse! Miserable sarcastic swearword.
Once you got to know the four band members, Dex, Maxen, Beckett and Otis, you realise that Dex is the exception to the rule of Rock Stars.
He is still so moody! But totally loveable. Turns into a big softy who melts my heart.
We all have our problems. Dex has a story that will break your heart.
Harley is assigned to the band to bring their profile up in the Twitter/Facebook world. She is a blogger and is hired by Kinky Shine's manager to help them get more of a virtual following.
Their first meeting leaves you not really liking Dex. He is not nice to Harley.
They clash but are attracted to each other. Things pick up and we discover the story behind his behaviour.
He slowly becomes less of a plonker and more of a lovely man.
The problems that come along with being with a member of a famous rock band are a pain. There are ups and down in their relationship. The story made me smile.
I've never read a book by this author before. The story was sweet. It shows us a big of the show bizz lifestyle. The story flowed along quite slowly at first, but once it heated up it was great.
I can't wait to read about the rest of the band and find out how Dex and Harley get on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dex is a rockin' five-plus-starred series starter! 4 May 2016
By Jen Valencia - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
With a standoffish, grumpy rock star who shuns publicity and an enterprising music blogger brought in to teach him a thing or two about having a social media presence, Dex brought together two people who now make up one of my favorite couples in the romance genre. This starter to author Stephanie Witter's Kinky Shine rock romance series was so unexpectedly unique and stands out among a host of other rock romance books, thanks to a story that is different from anything I've come across in a good long while, and I've been reading romance novels since I was twelve, so with three decades under my belt, so many a book has passed through my bookaholic hands. I loved this book's steady pace, sharp wit, well-developed main characters, and fantastic story, that by the time I finished reading, my highly satisfied smile and sigh of reader contentment would have clued anyone in on how I felt. I'm going to get into what the book is basically about and what I got out of it, but this early on, I'm already encouraging you to meet Dex, Harley, and the rest of Kinky Shine for yourselves. I wasn't the least bit disappointed and I have a feeling you won't be either. This now sits pretty at the top of my list of favorite rock romances and is a top 2016 read.

As much of a Kinky Shine fan as she is, twenty-three-year-old music blogger Harley Floyd can't excuse the jerky behavior of the band's twenty-five-year-old frontman, Dex Bowers. He may be a tatted up, gorgeous rock god who backs up the outer image with a wicked talent for songwriting and singing, but accusing your band's manager's daughter that she must have slept her way to score an interview with him before you realize who she was goes in the history books as dumbest move ever. But embarrassment isn't the only thing that Dex finds himself feeling in Harley's presence. For the first time in what feels like forever, he's drawn to a woman and it doesn't look like the feeling is going away any time soon. On Harley's end, her irritation and anger are soon replaced by attraction towards Dex. Yes, he's still moody and seems to be have a difficult time trusting anyone outside of his three other band mates and his manager, but there's something more to him, something that makes Harley want to be there to listen and understand what he has been and is going through. While Harley may get Dex's writer's block when it comes to composing new material for the album, he doubts she'll get his self-inflicted cock-blocking issue.

This book is about 235 or so pages long--which I consider good for a full-length novel--allowing it to be long enough to to give readers a complete and well-told story without ever making it feel overwhelming or overdone. I wasn't merely entertained by Dex and Harley's love story; I was all in with these two and then found myself becoming invested in the three other members of Kinky Shine: Maxen Walton (the band's drummer and Dex's best friend since high school) and Otis Patel and Beckett Kline (the band's bassist and guitarist, respectively, and Dex and Maxen's closest friend whom they met in college). Just like Dex, there's more the the rest of Kinky Shine than meets the eye, and I, for one, will not be missing out on the opportunity to getting to know them better and discovering what secrets they may be keeping from us (and maybe even each other). I also hope that Delaney (Harley's best friend and roommate in New York) does decide to move to Los Angeles and that she gets her own story as well. Suffice it to say that I anticipate loving each of the books to come and that I'm already a confirmed Kinky Shine fangirl. This may have been my first Stephanie Witter read but you can bet it won't be the last. I'm giving Dex five-plus stars. ♥

5.0 out of 5 stars I am IN LOVE with Dex & Harley!!!! 6 May 2016

BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you finish a book and actually have to email the author personally to THANK HER for creating such an awesome book - you know it's serious.

This book floored me. There was something about it that completely enraptured me and made me get the "feels" all over!!!

This is not your typical rock star romance at all. There was no crazy drama…no thirsty groupies causing problems…no crazy ex’s that pop up out of the woodwork. None.

Kinky Shine consists of the following band mates – Dex, Maxen, Otis & Beckett.
Kinky Shine is managed by David Floyd. David has called up on his daughter, Harley, to help the image of the band with the public.

Harley & Dex’s first meeting does not go well at all. It was like watching a train wreck happen in slow motion.
But from there, it all starts to fall into place- albeit without its ups and downs.

You can’t help but fall hopelessly in love with our H and h.

Dex’s story will blow your mind. Threw me for a total loop! But Harley’s persistence to help him will make your heart melt and set your underwear on fire!!!

There is nothing about this story that I didn’t like (shockingly). I am SO looking forward to the rest of this series because the other guys in the band leave their own imprint on you, full of curiosity and wondering what their background stories were and who was going to help them.

So, with that (sorry I didn’t go too in-depth with the review), believe me when I say – READ IT!!!!

Thank you, Stephanie!!!!!

Dex is a angry closed down frontman for a band. Harley is a communications expert hired to improve the band's online presence. Dex fights her every step of the way but is drawn to her. They have a very bumpy ride to success and a happy ending. Really enjoyed the storyline. All the characters are interesting and likeable.
Highly recommend reading this story.

Dex by Stephanie Witter is a fast paced, low angst read. I swiped through the pages loathing every interruption and every moment I had to put my kindle down to attend to real life.

Harley, a successful music blogger and social media expert, is enlisted by her father who is the manager of Kinky Shine to put the band on the social media map. Right away, she is put off by the arrogant, obnoxious vocalist/guitarist Dex who offends her by suggesting she slept her way into an interview with him. Once Dex finds out who she is, he is properly aghast and remorseful enough that he emerges as not only a colorful character but a likeable one. As the chapters go by, more is revealed about Dex, further endearing him. After the initial disastrous meeting, Dex and Harley find an instant unexplained attraction to each other. They are both cautious, each for their own reasons, exploring this crush cautiously, taking their relationship slow. As their friendship blossoms into more, a secret comes to light within the band. The band members have always been as tight as brothers and have welcomed Harley into their fold, but she worries this secret could be the undoing of her closeness with them and break the bond of trust between her and Dex. Even worse, the fate and fame of Kinky Shine could be threatened.

Dex ends as a HEA but only after pulling the reader into a darker world of rock, paparazzi, and drugs than shows on the surface, yet in an extremely sweet and lighthearted way. I loved this one and will be recommending it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Unique Rock Star Romance 9 July 2016

Dex is the frontman for the rock band Kinky Shine. He is notorious for being mysterious and very closemouthed about his private life. He has never been photographed with a woman since the band became famous. Harley is the daughter of the band's manager Floyd; this fact is not initially known by Dex when he is hostile and makes a very crude remark to her when she meets him for an interview for her entertainment blog. He is very embarrassed when he realizes Harley's connection to Floyd, plus upset when he also learns that she's been hired to ease the band members into a presence on social media, specifically Twitter. The band members are very close-knit, like a family to each other, but Dex is closest to the drummer, Maxen. The animosity between Dex and Harley is quickly overshadowed by attraction and an intense chemistry. Their developing relationship is challenged by several trust issues that have their foundation in Dex's past. They are able to work through the issues and attain their HEA. One of the issues makes this a unique rock star romance. I enjoyed this book, recommend it, and am looking forward to Maxen's story, which is coming next.
