Product Description

"The explosive must-read of this decade"

The President, Congress, Supreme Court out, a no-BS dictator in. Snipers, assassins and spies (Oh, my!). A beautiful blonde, a bumbling beach bum, outrageous, offbeat humor, exotic erotics (Ooo!). A brain-twisting, gut-wrenching ride.

What could possibly go wrong when an iconoclastic, reclusive billionaire (no, NOT Trump) buys and takes over the US federal government and starts to fix everything that's wrong with it? (Or what could go right?)

What could happen to the mellow, laid-back beach bum who's writing that story? (Hint: In part, a black helicopter and a few government agencies are involved.) And who is the beautiful woman who slithers into his life? What deep and painful secrets might be haunting her?

And what deep and possibly dark secrets might HE be hiding? But most of all, what's so damned funny? And how much sex is too much ... or too little?

Begin your journey through this absurdist blend of fiction and reality (and some obligatory gratuitous eroticism) and see for yourself. (Nobody has yet guessed the surprising twist in the Epilogue.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended for anyone wanting a tongue & cheek answer to fixing America 10 July 2016

After I met the author, Jake Devlin (not his real name, but I'll not divulge) on Bonita Beach in Florida (The location of about half of the story), I debated as to whether I should purchase this book, the first in a series that he calls The Devlin Quatrology. His description was both intriguing and, well, a little strange. He was a character all in himself . . . or more clearly, he is the character, that is the main character in the book. Jake Devlin writes from the view point of Jake Devlin researching and writing the story about how Donne goes about buying and fixing America. The scenes jump back and forth between the writer and the story he is writing. Jake Devlin's (the character Jake Devlin) friends and acquaintances on the beach are a colorful mix of CIA, FBI, NSA, BSA, whatever (I got lost in all the XXX's) and beach bums consisting of spys, kids and retirees. Hard to tell one from the other. At only half way through I'm expecting a few surprises.

The bottom line is, though not all that realistic (I'm reading fiction . . . what can I expect? Anyone read that series about some kid named Potter, Harry?) I am enjoying picking up my iPad and seeing where it goes next. Will Donne actually fix the country before one of the assassination attempts gets him? Will Jake and Pam stop dancing around the sexual tension building between them? Why are the Mimosa Twins listening in on their every word? Are they CIA, FBI, NSA, BSA, whatever, spies?

Anyway, if you want something realistic, read non-fiction, maybe pickup a textbook on the history of America. Oh, wait a minute, I hear that's pretty much fiction, too.

I am definitely being entertained. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a tongue & cheek answer to fixing America. Sometimes even tongue & cheek speaks some truth.

WOW great book, loved the twist and turns that kept me guessing. I started Devlin Defiance and it's a great read too. BUT, you must read Deception first. I met the author while walking the beach in Bonita and I think he is there everyday, lucky guy. Its refreshing to find a new author that can make me laugh, make me guess and I don't want to stop reading. His books are books are full of surprises, GREAT JOB.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing by far 17 October 2013

I admit, I've never really picked up a book of this genere and finished it, but Jake Devlin caught my interest and held it non-stop. Multiple layers (and I mean multiple) with characters and timelines, this book looks at the government pitfalls from an interesting perspeective. You need to read between the lines to catch some of the intentions, but I was on my seat, nodding my head, agreeing with what was said, and I also found myself in bouts of laughter. A great read, and highly recommended.

Thought it was going to be mindless reading but it did generate quite a bit of thinking on my end. Pretty well written with a lot of unforeseen twists. Next time I see you on the beach Mr. Devlin we will discuss your new book which I just purchased.
