THE DEVIL WORE SNEAKERS
Love and Mystery in the 6-oh-3 – Book 2

Who shot Lucy Watson’s estranged brother, the popular high school teacher who brought snacks for the staff and volunteered to help troubled students?
When Lucy Watson returns to her hometown in New Hampshire to bury her brother, she learns law enforcement is looking into several suspects. But soon the search for the killer grows intensely personal for Lucy. The police discover a fierce argument occurred the day of the murder between Lucy’s brother and his best friend Liam McAllister, Lucy’s first love. The cops shift their focus to Liam. Determined to get justice, Lucy becomes involved in the mystery and must choose to put her faith in Liam one last time, or face the truth; she is in love with her brother’s murderer.

When former bad boy Liam McAllister runs into Lucy Watson, he feels the familiar hunger and tug of attraction that they once shared. Since their breakup five years ago, he’s regretted ending their relationship and dreams of winning her back. Now is his chance. He invites her to his bar and grill to show he’s a reformed, self-made businessman. But his plan comes apart. The bank threatens foreclosure on his establishment, and he falls under suspicion for the death of his pal and Lucy’s brother. Liam struggles to overcome his personal challenges while proving he’s changed. Can he convince Lucy to trust him, or is it too late for a second shot at love?

HASH(0xb29fa3c0) out of 5 stars from FictionZeal.com re: The Devil Wore Sneakers by Nora LeDuc 22 January 2016

The second to last thing Ryan saw before he died was sneakers. The last thing he saw was the killer’s face. It was someone he knew. Lucy Watson returned home to Barley, New Hampshire to bury her brother. The good news is that law enforcement has several suspects. The bad news is the primary suspect is Ryan’s best friend, Liam McAllister. Witnesses confirmed they’s overheard a heated argument between the two the day before the murder. Liam had broken Lucy’s heart five years earlier. But, Lucy can’t help her feelings and her persistent attraction to Liam. She and Liam both become involved, despite the mounting danger, in finding Ryan’s killer. But, can Lucy really trust him?

This story started out very quickly, continued with a fast pace, and turned out to be a great mystery. It is the second in the ‘Love and Mystery in the six-oh-three’ series following Gone Before Goodbye. Even though it is part of a series, it was comfortably read as a stand-alone. It has very gratifying twists and turns that every mystery lover has come to expect. The secondary characters added an additional entertaining factor to the novel. However, I felt there were a few too many in the mix which complicated the story a bit. Rating: 4 out of 5.

HASH(0xb29fabb8) out of 5 stars If you haven't read book 1 you can still start with this one and follow it just fine. Lucy has come back to her home town ... 7 March 2016

Wow what a book!! I read Gone Before Goodbye some time ago and in the mood for a wicked villain I remembered this author. What a thrill to see this is book 2. It really makes me want to go and read book 1 again. Matt Hastings is your ultimate villain he is driven by what he thinks is the word of God and being an ex priest he feels he was badly misjudged by others. He believes Lucy is to blame and has been lead by God to settle the score. If you haven't read book 1 you can still start with this one and follow it just fine.

Lucy has come back to her home town after she is notified her br0ther has been murdered. Her biggest fear is not facing her brothers death but her ex boyfriend, Liam. Don't get me wrong Luce loves he brother but Liam broke her heart years before and was the cause of her fleeing town and into the arms of Matt. Oh, yes Lucy had an affair with Hastings and after book 1 and Matt escaping capture she has been laying low to keep out of his path. Liam is an awesome H but I just wish a little more time would have been spent strengthening their bond as most of the focus in this read is not one but two mysteries unraveling.

Liam is the main suspect to Lucy's brothers death and while that is all going on another girl goes missing. Yes Hastings is up to his old habits. It all leads up to a HEA for our couple but their a teaser that will lead into a book 3. I'm not sure if it will be as violent as her first two books but we will have to wait to see. Don't be afraid if you hate descriptive violence as the author allows you to draw your own images. This is PG 13 and I was glad the author did not use foul language to make her point with her characters. It did not take away their wickedness if nothing else quoting God made him seem more wicked IMO. Enjoy!

Overall, this is a great mystery book. While it is a standalone novel, some characters from the first book; Gone before Goodbye, play a small role in this one. Essentially, all the books can be tied together yet standalone as their own novel. I really enjoy this type of series because it gives readers a chance to get to know a myriad of characters while seeing how they all play a role together.

This story is about a woman named Lucy who returns to her hometown when her brother is murdered. Figuring out the pieces of the puzzle as to who killed her brother Ryan won’t be easy though, especially when a man who menaced her in the past and an ex-lover come into play. – Enter a murderous priest and a sexy bad boy who had her heart once before and you get a great mixture of romance and sins!

Will Lucy be able to figure out who killed her brother? Will she be able to stay away from the man she once loved even though her has changed? Will she be able to get away from the one man that tormented her? You will have to read to find out! For those who haven’t picked up their copy of this novel yet I highly recommend it. It’s a great story that has all those things mystery readers love and more!
HASH(0xb29fab4c) out of 5 stars Perfect rainy day read 21 January 2016

Thanks to the publisher and Goddess Fish Promotions for providing a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. Opinions expressed are mine.

I picked up The Devil Wore Sneakers on a rainy weekend day. What a perfect read on a dark, stormy day!

Nora LeDuc writes this mystery with every twist and turn a lover of good mysteries looks for, and with each one you realize you're not any closer to solving the crime than you were chapters before.

The main characters are well-developed and likable, and descriptive passages make you feel as though you are right in the middle of the action. Numerous other characters come and go during the telling of Lucy and Liam's rollercoaster ride.

Don't start this book if you have lots of "to do's" on your list--you'll never get them done!
