Descender is a science fiction graphic novel about a boy companion robot named Tim-21. He wakes up alone on a deserted mining plant after a ten year hibernation period. He finds dead bodies and no living carbon based life forms. This boy sends a rescue signal off world to notify nearby planets that he is in need of assistance. Little does he know all the planets under the United Galactic Council were attacked by giant robots 10 years earlier and Tim-21 is the only one who's code is similar to these God like robots.
The story for this graphic novel was very entertaining and enjoyable. The characters felt very two dimensional and the illustrations only enhanced these characters. The majority of the images are in water color but it added texture to the pages and the illustrations and softened some of the scenes. The water color gave the story a dream like feel and warmed up the cold unfeeling nature of most science fiction based stories.
This was a fun read and I fully intend on continuing with the series and this edition only contains the first three volumes.
