Urgh, this was so moody. Full of hyped up teenage emotions that ping pong from one extreme to the other and a constant need to question, rebel, bemoan and generally drive me nuts.
A sort of paranormal coming of age story that sounded okay (when I thought it was adult UF) but fell into the usual YA angsty tropes. I didn’t like most of the characters, and Kael is quite a standout jerk who treats Alex like a marionette puppet, constantly pulling her strings as a larger subplot takes hold. And don’t even get me started about the twist regarding her mum and how it’s dropped five seconds after that becomes interesting.
